Competetive game bugs/annoyances to improve the current state of competetive CF

In this post I will sum up a few bugs/annoyances that I believe needs a fix to get CrossFire to a healthy basis for competetive play again. I have discovered that the CF Barracks forum rarely recieves any attention by Staff anymore, which is why I have turned to the competetive forum.

Small bugs/annoyances (but also the ones in a big need of attention in the context of competetive play)

Having a sensitivity of 5-7 does not get saved, and automatically changes when switching servers.
AK-47 "normal" variants (no scopes, bayonets etc.) has three or more different spray-patterns, thus being unable to be regarded as reliable and controllable in the competetive spectrum.
AK-47 variants doing 99 damage on longer ranges, thus being unable to be regarded as reliable in a competetive matter.
Body armor being slightly overscaled. Suggestion: reduced by 15%. This overscale causes the grenade to loose alot of its purpose, and the overscale can be noticed while shooting a player through boxes.

Major bugs/annoyances

Game stuttering: The game will freeze for a small second. This is not a result of a bad computer/ping, but the result of guns/effects. I believe the implementation of a high number of guns and effects has caused some of the REZ files to be either outdated or corrupted, resulting in screen-freezes and/or game stuttering. This only seems to occur in the start of every game session, which leads me to believe that on every start up, the computer has to load up files, while the corrupted REZ files slows down/stops this process. I understand there lays alot of coding behind this fix, but it is a needed one. This only seems to occur when the game is downloaded on any hard drive that is not an SSD to my discoverings.

I would greatly appreciate if the competetive community would upvote this post or comment additional bugs or annoyances that needs attention for the game to become healthier. Any feedback appreciated aswell.

  • A Competitive Gamemode is all that we need to get the players back to CF NA.
People are leaving because of the vips, the unnecessary DQ's in tournaments etc.

    So a gamemode that only:
allows guns like ak47, m4a1, awm etc. (competitive weapons)
    allows gp chars
    allows bp

You can't join untill you have removed all the prohibited items of your body (like hats and muzzle flame).
This gamemode will also effect the DQ's of EGL. When the admin says, you need to change the gamemode to "The Competitive Gamemode," nobody will get disqualified for stupid mistakes like Muzzle Flame.
In normal scrims/pubgames, players will not rage anymore about Smoke Protection, AWM-VIP and others stuff that gives people advantage.
So less angry people about the competitive scene will increase the amount of competitive players again.

We also need to get rid of the 1v1 ship rooms in uk5ch8 :D

This is not even remotely close to why people are leaving.

It's one of the reasons. I know the main reasons are the bugs and tournaments without prizes
  • +1 for me on the "Competitive Gamemode" there's a lot of random modes in this game, that no one even plays. Adding another mode shouldn't be a problem. The sensitivity changes happens to me a lot as well, same with the 1 second random freezes from picking up a gun, shooting, spraying, being shot at, etc. My fps freezes at random times basically.
  • why not just play eu... and try to change things where there are more competitive players.
  • most of those issues are universal in cf asaik
  • The sensitivity bug is really frustrating when you have high dpi. Besides that I'm really tired of having to change my settings 2-3 times before even being able to play. Especially because the first time, after every restart, takes up to 1 min to save.

Also a competitve gamemode would be nice :]
  • Speculate fanboy.
    Jk. Competitive game mode +1
  • All rifles should be a one-hit kill to the head, regardless of armor. Other than that it doesn't bother me too much. Fast plant / defuse also shouldn't be allowed, but that's more of a personal opinion.

I also think the "play 9 rounds and leave" thing is kinda awkward. Why are we trying to emulate clan server?
  • Why hasn't this post got any attention from gm's and staffs? Will you guys ever be concerned about problems? Seriously, lots of people thinking the idea of "competitive mode" would be nice and make the competitive scene better, yet none of the gm's are concerned. The spray pattern of AK-47 has been being changed excessively. Ak is getting worse and worse. If I'm not mistaken, the new AK VIP 1 taps no matter what distance which is funny. OK, you guys make money from VIPS but it doesn't mean that Normal AK-47 must be nerfed. Hope this post gets the attention

They too busy showing that big head mode that's coming soon and will become another dead mode.
  • I agree this post needs to reach a GM who is willing to help the Comp Community grow. Someone who will follow the footsteps of the great X0tek and step up and make a conscious effort. Who will be that Mod?
  • Armor and the multiple spray patterns are both perfectly fine

+1 to fixing the stuttering, 99 damage hs with ak, and the sensitivity bug
  • I agree comp mode settings would be nice. Or even better would be a server section that automatically implements the current competitive restrictions on to all players who enter.

I dont think VIPs are an issue as long as they are kept out of competition.

The perfect thing about having a server that automatically implemented the current CFCL / Active league rules, is you would also limit the number of silly item DQs by players simply not paying attention to a simple item restriction. If you have the environment created already vs forcing players to create it themselves within the server, I think it makes the transition to competitive much more smooth to a new competitive player or team, and will automatically put them in a setting where they are forced to play by the competitive rules.

It would also be nice I think to have competitive matches become 13 Round Halves first to 14 (With the side change built in automatically so nobody has to leave). I think this would make matches less 1 dimensional in some cases where a 10-0 can be done in under 10 minutes.

Also I think it would be cool for CFCL Playoffs to do "Pick em" style events for rewards. Such as a special name card or item for having a perfect bracket, and maybe incentives to watch match streams such as special esports items or something. Just some ideas I have had.

All in all, I think the community driven ideas (when backed with large support) should definitely be held with high regard, but at the same time I can assure you all that the GMs do care about the growth of competitive crossfire, and are actually doing a lot to make the upcoming season a great one, even if its not something you can always directly observe on the surface.

The major issue isn't VIPs being in competition. The major issue is that Normal AK has different recoil patterns which make me think that AK is getting nerfed in order to make AK VIPs worthy. It has been changed many times. Current AK isn't the AK in 2014 or 2015

Agree 100% with this I think its ******ed there is only one viable gun
  • +100 for the Competitive Game Mode. I have actually created a thread in our private section about that very topic. While I can not comment on any answers or feedback received, trust when I say that I have brought this up more than once and hopefully something can be done in an official capacity. I'm sure there is a lot of back-end coding that has to be done, but nothing is out of the question
