No disk space (install)

  • Run chkdsk command - to check your HDD partition for errors - even you see are empty they may have some errors in free space area.

Read here about how to: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/guide-to-using-check-disk-in-windows-vista/

Also i hope you have at least 2 hdd partitions ( C:\ is default for windows ..so you should have at least one more d:\ ) - if you do - intall game on d:\CrossFire and not to default location c:\ProgramsFiles\z8Games\CrossFire

P.S. Test a dedicated program like Advanced System Care 10 - will also clean your hdd for garbage files, correct some windows errors, check disk .. any many more :)

What difference will having 2 partitions make, apart from reducing the size on your harddrive....????
  • Here is a simple and short answer: save it to your desktop.
  • You might want to recheck where it is the Downloader is trying to download its files to.

Odds are, perhaps it is trying to download the files into an External Drive of yours that happens to be full.
  • today's hdd most have 5400 RPM

The majority of 3.5" (Desktop) HDDs nowadays are 7200 RPM, and the majority of 2.5" (Laptop) HDDs are 5400 RPM :P
OR then you get a BAD Sector on C:\

If you have a bad sector on your drive, regardless of where you store your data, it will need to be replaced. Yes, they can be reallocated, but it will spread the more you use the drive. Having another partition won't stop the bad sectors. Yes it will be easier in regards to a re-install, but there are options to keep your files on re-install anyway, and they would be placed in Windows.old in C:\.

I would recommend anyone with a desktop installing games (Or having a lot of 1 type of file, like movies, lots of music etc.) to just get a separate HDD for them. If an HDD dies then you lose all your partitions too, but if you have 2 HDDs, you'll only lose (in theory) half your data if an HDD dies.

All this being said it doesn't hurt to have a recovery partition or a separate data partition just for organisation.

OT: First try running the downloader as administrator. Sometimes programs can't write to the disk if they don't have administrator access. Try doing a chkdsk then running CCleaner to get rid of all the temp junk and garbage data that you don't need.
  • :D By default all user directory as : Desktop, My Documents, etc are located on C:\Users\... so if C:\ have bad sectors or is full - will get same errors ... :)

Unless you have moved all personal directory location to another partition .

Previous players solved this problem by saving it to their Desktop so that is one solution for fixing this.

Another solution would be to to upgrade his hard drive.
