Ladders

Is it just me or am i the only one going slow up ladders?, ik high fps makes you go up slower, but i am playing with 30 - 60 fps and it takes me a while to get to the top. Before i used to rocket up ladders.

  • Well, I still experience the whole "High FPS makes you small as a snail" and "Low FPS lets you fly to Orbit" myth, so I'm rather surprised for someone to challenge said mindset.

In this case, I personally wouldn't have a clue as to why it would do something like that to you.

Got something like G-Sync running in the Background, or something of the like?

EDIT - I was curious as to whether or not it seems to have been an Isolated occurrence and tried it now, and behold, it actually is the same for me.

And here's the big news. The ladder speeds seem to be fixed now! 200 FPS should go just as fast up a ladder now as a 30 FPS Person, or so I'd like to think.
  • I was always slow on those ladders :(
Except FPS maybe also matters the resolution ? idk...

Yep, seems like they changed it last patch. A nice change especially for hmx
  • If there's certainly a set ladder climb speed now then that's great. After going from a solid 80-100 FPS to a solid 200 FPS I noticed a fairly annoying difference. It didn't seem like too much of a difference but it was enough to get caught in mutations or to get shot down in S&Ds and what not. I suppose I should/could test this out myself with some tests of my main on new computer and my alt on old.

well screen resolution effects FPS too. So in a way yes it would have before. But the only other aspect screen resolution would effect it would be purely perception based due to if you're used to playing in one aspect ratio and then change to a resolution that uses another one thus missing with your perception. (like going from wide screen to standard)
  • If someone with 30-60fps is going slow on ladder, then I'm happy to see the change. Other thing i notice about ladders is when press (S) with your backs on the ladder makes you move down instead of up. which make S goes down and W goes up on ladder.

That's a relief to hear. I have an old desktop at my relative's house that I sometimes play on and can confirm going up a ladder with 50 fps is several times faster than going up a ladder with my regular 200 fps (at least before this patch apparently).
  • didnt notice any change sadly with my +200 fps i notice nothing, rooftops or desert force for me seems the same, but for u guys i see u said opposite than me maybe after this last patch, some background program effect on fps in cf? even if it does not take the fps little down? or maybe a little down with slow in game? for me sometimes even with high fps, im not sure but the screen sometimes freeze for like 2-5 seconds and if im in sd and happened to me at least 1 time it freeze and bam died, its not lag like all said, it was just me as im sure it was the first days i buy this new high pc just to get back to CF

That 2-3 seconds freeze. I tought I'm the only one :D
I think is because of the game, idk :-? I also have solid around 200 fps.

On Topic: It SHOULD be same speed for both low fps and high. Didn't notice any differences between players, to be honest.
  • got an average fps at 250 on my pc - climbs ladders like a snail
old school laptop with 50~ fps - wroom! i climb any ladder at the speed of light
  • Also you're no longer able to climb up a ladder backwards. And if there's a window at the top of the ladder, just like in The Mine B site, you somehow get stuck and it takes you ages to get in.
  • Well, now I can take my 120 fps limit and go back to 200. It's nice not having middle eastern players fly up ladders in rooftops.

well my old with 200 fps, was 2 laptops with +200 fps most games, well both was laptop, this time i have high pc? if u have pc with the 200 pc, maybe its problem in pc or program in pc, or CF supports laptops more than PC's lel
