Is the game becoming active again?

Old 2010 player here on a throw-away account and I just want to know if the game is becoming active again or if they finally have a plan to advertise and get more people? Played a little today and noticed more NA people with normal ping and not as many Egys. Worth coming back -- is the future promising? Don't want to come back and throw away hours if it's not worth it and it's just gonna die completely. Thoughts?

  • Even though the servers are less filled then they were last year during my play time I play with more NA players. It will be interesting to see when the kick vote comes back how many people will come back with it. I know a few who are waiting for it, they can't be the only ones.
  • Me personally I don't think the kick-vote system made THAT many people leave or make a lot come back. I saw it was rarely used and to be honest, I didn't even notice any hackers playing for a week so yeah...just wish Smilegate would use some of the money they use for advertising like I don't see why not. They surely see their numbers are dipping drastically. I took a class at University and according to statistics this game won't last for 3 more years unless something is done. I've done the math and I'm 90% sure 3 years is all it's got. They still make a crap-ton of money so I don't get why they don't spend some on advertising they can make 10 times what they spend on advertising back. Wish they had a team just dedicated to this but hey, whatever gets money in their pockets.

This is why Overwatch is so successful and CS:GO. They actually take care of their game and advertise it/have majors where prizes are really good. If I see a hacker in Overwatch, I report them once and the next day get an email notifying me that person is banned. I have two friends that work for Blizzard and one for Valve and even they agree CrossFire won't last. Makes me sad to be honest...maybe CrossFire 2 will be different? Can you give me some more information on CrossFire 2 like is it an entirely new game and are accounts transferred over?
  • Perhaps it won't bring THAT many back, but it will bring my little NA crew back lol. The kick vote was abused a lot but some people felt safer with it. Yeah the game is still making good money so it isn't going anywhere. Yeah I wish more people knew about this game, it would be fun to be able to find esc and gm games readily again lol. CF2 will be a different game.
  • We can only hope...maybe 2017 is the year they wake up and realize they have a dying game on their hands and look at actual stats. My University pal said the reason they keep on shoving ZP content down our throats is because they know the game will die-out soon and they're trying to make the most of it. Hope it's not true but really seems like it. All it takes is a good advertisement and so many NA people will come back/a ton of new NA players. Look how Overwatch and CS:GO did it...
  • Crossfire is not like before any more,There are less players and the clan server is not active any more.
The only thing that changed the game is the event shop with the events 4 EP.
So u can chill anytime and do events with your friends and then open crates.
They should improve every single things atm.
By the way,You can add me to do events together.
    Good luck and welcome back.
  • You can say what you like about how successful CS:GO or Overwatch. But when it comes to the top profitable free games, CrossFire is in the top 3 according to recent figures. This is based on the game overall and not just based on North America alone. As I always said, as long as this game is making profit, it will stay.
  • The game will never become again what it was. All the profit we see every year is mostly from the Asian markets, not western for sure. CF is stale, there are newer games like Overwatch and CSGO, which seem better to the eyes of new players. If someone starts playing CF he has to face other players with 100$ weapons that shoot through walls and reload in a blink of an eye... Why someone would even keep playing a pay2win game? They just leave. Ask yourself. Would you start CF if you were a new gamer?
    Personally I wouldn't.

Everyone is waiting for CF2, which probably will make the same profitable circle as CF1 with ZP reskins first and VIP weapons later. CFNA is not dead but seeing how it goes more and more downwards each year, it won't last long.

All I can say is the game only seems to be very active if there are events, if not then it is dead at most times. All though the profit of how much they keep making keeps being brought up, get use to seeing a cheater and old bugs in SnD map rooms that people have been abusing for a long time.
  • this game is awesome, the only issue is the cheaters i guess
  • Pretty sure NA is alive cuz UK servers are not functioning....
  • Seems more active than 6 months ago, is this due to plenty more of event's ? ;)

Because western cares more about graphics than actual game and since youre comparing csgo with cf,they have no problem in spending money on skins in csgo which give them no real advantage over other players,so spending 100$ in cf to get a VIP surely isnt a problem for them at all if their skill level is that low that they require OP guns in order to be good..... And to answer your question, yeah I would start CF as a new gamer because reasons above and because with all the free content u can get while being a f2p player, the game is not that p2w anymore (i said "that" because vips arent free and again,u dont need them to be good)

(I'm not talking about you now: But I guess its easier for people to just rage quit the game completely and whine everywhere about the lame "p2w" excuse than actually play the game and use all the free assets they can get)

Your right, let's hope this game keeps making profit, despite it's current situations and the future upcoming CF2.

Although Hackers/Abusers are a big issue for any game, this old game also lacks: Server Stability (especially in the UK), Clan Vs Clan Competitiveness, Better Support Centre Justice (i.e Reports and Acc Administration), Revamped Net-Code Reg and more STAFF engagement with Players. If all the following were improved (but it seems it won't), this game would recover many players back, within a heart beat.

Exactly. UK servers are so unstable lately, it's happened before, ages ago (last year). I let one of our MOD's know, she told me she'd 'forward' the problem.

Seems more active than 6 months ago, is this due to plenty more of event's ? ;)

Event's are literally the life force left of this once great game, we obviously need more than that (like popular suggestions, implemented), before even more players start neglecting the game completely.
  • Any of y'all think they have a plan to make CrossFire what it once was? At least get servers in Egypt so they can leave us NA players alone!! Gaahhh...always get so mad/sad when I think about what those clueless people at Smilegate (or whatever company runs this game) are doing with this game...
  • This game is outdated. It will never get to what it used to like in 2010-2012.

    We need CrossFire 2.
