It was Fun (Brief WCA Write-up)

Got to WCA, had a great time there, met some really cool people.

The People

1. Flipside are all awesome guys, same with Reijn. It was super fun clubbing with them, and chilling throughout the week. F(luff) you guys for making fun of my terrible German, haha

2. John (xfam0usx) and Abdul (Toonie) are some of the coolest guys out there too. Abdul was super in his shell, but was incredibly generous and even came out a bit toward the end. John is an all-around great guy.

3. The staff that I got to meet from WCA / Smilegate / Tencent were really cool guys, too, and there are some interesting things in the works for competitive CF. I know "coming soon" is the slogan for our scene, but it's actually pretty cool.

The Gameplay

1. Places 1, 2, 3, and 4 were all teams that were used to this client (VG, AG, HG, and Freedom). The flashes were absolutely insane, the sound was super weird (you couldn't tell if it was forward or backward), and the movement mechanics were all different. We tied Flipside for 5th.

2. We got STOMPED by the Chinese. Everything I said above doesn't account for the fact that we went 20-2 against the two Chinese teams we played. Even teamw0w won more rounds than we did against them. Yikes. They outplayed us super hard.

3. ...but, afterward, we actually went pretty even. Once we adjusted to how insanely good they were with those dumb flashes (unfortunately, after we were eliminated), most of our games were toss ups. We were fairly even with everyone else.

4. We straight up trolled against the Russians in our match, and were clearly better than them...yet they almost beat the Chinese? This event was weirrrrd.

5. Solo continued showing why he's currently the best player in North America, outfragging everyone else on our team. That said, all of us did so bad against the Chinese that it doesn't say much to be on top haha. He had 22 out of his 30 frags vs the Russians, though?

6. Abdul (Toonie) DID in fact go off, hella hard, for most of the event. His scoreline doesn't do him justice given how badly we got smacked by the Chinese. He's actually nuts.

Conclusion

Glad I got to go to an event, sorry I didn't bring home the win. We only played with our 5 a total of 5 or 6 days before going to WCA, but I didn't expect to get throttled that hard by the Chinese xD

I won't be playing with ANIXIA anymore, way too bad of an environment for me. Not going to put myself through it anymore.
