//->Tut - How to troubleshoot why your game isn't launching<-//
Always wonder why your game wont launch sometimes or it just crashes on launch?
This can help the debugging process of your endeavour to getting your game up and running!
1. What's REALLY wrong? The next step will tell you how to figure out.
2. Go to C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\Log\
Open up the most recent log file (At the bottom of the list)
Read what's inside, for example mine sometimes says "Couldn't read version.ini" means it couldn't connect to the server to read the
CrossFire version. Simple solution, your internet is not connected or there's a problem with your DNS servers.
(Check your internet, reconnect or contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
3. Don't know what the log files mean or what they're saying?
Post it on the forum you found this on and I'll be glad to help!
4. My game window freezes for like 5 minutes then unfreezes when it asks for my login info (Vista bug)
Simple solution, You MOST likely have a shortcut to CrossFire somewhere so locate it then Right click on it after that click on the "Compatibility" tab
then check "Run in compatibility mode for:" then on the list select "Windows XP Service pack 2" or Service pack 3, either one. That should solve the 'freeze' problems!
5. X-TRAP gives some code_field or weird program behaviour error.
That means you've got a public or outdated hacks, 1 Solution... Don't hack and play fair (I doubt you can do that xD)
6. My game crashes when I'm looking for servers or in the lobby.
Only a few things to try, run out of compatbility mode (If in it) and re-install CrossFire.
7. Other errors? Post them on the forum and I'll try and analyze the situations if you provide the following:
->Windows version (E.G Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista Ultimate x86)
->Windows Archetecture (E.G 32bit, 64-bit) (How do i find out this? Click "Start" then right click on "Computer" and press "Properties" and
write down all that info on your post (Note: DO NOT POST YOUR WINDOWS ACTIVATION KEY!)
->Video card (E.G nVidia GeoForce GT 8800) (How to find this? Press the windows key plus R at the same time on your keyboard then type in "dxdiag" without quotes then go to the "DISPLAY" tab on DirectX diagnostics then post your video card brand/series which is located in the upper left hand corner in the display tab of DirectX diagnostics)
->RAM As stated above, get to dxdiag once again and keep on the ORIGINAL tab do NOT go to the display tab, read me the amount of "Memory" you have.
->DirectX version Once again, go to DXDIAG and read the DirectX version of the main tab at the BOTTOM of the dialog.
->Processor What type of processor do you have, what speed is it? Once again we will use DXDIAG and you must read me everything after
"Processor" for example, mine is "Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 560 @ 2.13 GHz, ~2.1GHZ"
->Mods. Have you modified anything, even graphics, sounds, anything?
//-End Troubleshooting-//
//-Team DM tactics-//
Here's how to play at an accelerated level... If you're able to preform these tasks/tactics.
Things you don't want to do/get in TD's..
1. Avoid being shot (OBVIOUSLY!)
To avoid being shot, strafe left and right and jump up and down at the same time so the players have a harder time focusing their mouse on your body
or your head, If you have a heavy weapon like the AWM then switch over to knife and strafe then when you're at a far distance away switch back and shoot 'em!
2. Avoid being spawn-killed.. Check all passage ways in TD's to make sure your enemy(ies) aren't gonna sneak up on you.
3. Use high accuracy and high damage guns to make EVERY shot count, I'd recommend the Scar light or M4A1 however i also like the XM8 and
type89.
4. Can't get the scar light or a good gun? Use your 'noob' gun named the "m16" you have by default and can't sell, make sure to be as CLOSE to the enemy as possible since the M16 isn't good with range AT ALL.
5. Always move and act differently.
Enemies usually pick up on your techniques after a while, you can't just always go to the left and get killed, that gets old after a while!
Always do something different to prevent your techniques from being exploited.
6. Use an optical mouse.
Trackball mouses are things of the past and they aren't good for CrossFire at ALL... So buy an optical mouse,
i prefer wireless so things don't get messy
7. Don't hack.
Hacking is for losers, you'll always end up getting kicked and your account banned!
Really, MAY be fun but it gets you in alot of trouble and is completely unfair to other players.
Consider this, if EVERYONE hacked then CrossFire would die, so why be another hacker rooting torward CrossFire's death?
Games were meant to be played FAIR and you're NOT supposed to have unfair advantages on other people no matter how rich you are
(Assuming you bought some VIP CrossFire killer.)
8. Don't put up with hackers.
Every hacker you see, REPORT them to Z8Games staff.
Don't let these morons get away with overuling everyone, report 'em to Johnny Law (AKA Z8Games)
9. Buddies
Always having a friend in your room and fighting with you will help you a lot..
Say if you're reloading and an enemy sees you, your friend might not be reloading and can defend you while you're 'busy'
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
10. Glitching
As said before explaining hacking, the game was NOT made for people to exploit it.
Glitching is an unfair advantage, it may be fun but think about how the ohter players feel when you do that.
(Yeah, you are thinking about how they feel... Evil person)
Anyway, think about how you would feel if it happened to YOU.
//->End TD Tactics<-//
//->Search and Destroy tactics<-//
//Black list//
1. It's all about the sound.
When you're walking to the bomb site, make sure you don't make ANY noise hold down shift when walking to
minimize noise.
2. It's all about the bomb plant location
Depending on your map, there's some awesome places to plant your bomb that makes it harder to find.
Just walk a bit away from main red circle bomb site and hold down the mouse TORWARD the bomb site to plant.
(PS: Don't bug the bomb..)
3. Check the place for enemies FIRST, go around the corner and hold "CTRL" down so they don't see you, make sure there's no enemies or just one
before planting the bomb!
4. Smoke
Using smoke is very essential for hiding your bomb, always use smoke!
5. Plant kit
Buy a quick plant kit to get that bomb planted ASAP, you don't wanna get shot while planting the bomb!
//Global Risk//
1. It's all about the sound
Just like in BL, you need to minimize how much sound you're making, again hold shift to minimize it.
2. Keeping it safe, keep your eyes open and always be careful when going around corners.
3. Quick defuse kit
You need to get that bomb defused as soon as POSSIBLE, get the quick defuse kit!
4. Team mates
Have someone cover you whle you're defusing or heading to the bomb site,
There's always enemies watching their bomb waiting for YOU to defuse, as soon as you start.. BOOM HEADSHOT.
5. There's always a bomb site that BL usually goes to.
Many people have their favourites, find it out then you'll have a FAIR advantage!
//->End Search and Destroy tactics<-//
//->Elimination tactics<-//
1. Stay close
Stay close to your team members so you don't get killed so fast or get outnumbered.
2. Get a good weapon
Weapon selection is IMPORTANT, pick whatever weapon suits you the best.
3. Reloading
So you don't get killed while reloading, hide behind something temporarily so you can reload without being shot!
4. Pistol selection
Your seconary weapon is VERY important too, if you run out of ammo or you don't want to reload just switch over and shoot them!
I prefer the Deagle as it has a high damage/accuracy (I also use it in regular combat )
5. Out of weapons?
Someone stole your favorite weapon? How sad
No need to worry! You can most likely find the weapon you want at the train or at the opposite team's spawn.
//->End Elimination tactics<-//
//-> Free for all tactics <-//
1. Weapons
Every time you kill an enemy, take his weapon since you seem to run out of ammo quick in FFA.
2. Snipers (If allowed)
Snipers are GREAT in FFA, get in a corner and you've got 2 walkways in your sight for double-enemy discovery!
3. On-guard
Always be on guard, every time you turn a corner EXPECT an enemy to be there so you're ready when DOES COME!
4. Focus
When enemies are LEFT AND RIGHT everywhere, you GOTTA be focused at ALL times!
5. Fairness
Remember, you have a chance winning against a Second Liutenant (or higher) but it's much better to play with your OWN rank!
//-> End Free for all tactics <-//
//-> CrossFire ZP guide <-//
You DON'T have to do exactly as i say however this is how I'D spend MY ZP!
1. Guns
Want to get a GP gun and only have ZP?
If you have 14,400+ ZP you can exchange it for 100,000 GP.
Go to the mall and scroll to the bottom and purchase the item that's for your character type and you'll gain 100,000GP.
2. Cool stuff
Cool stuff like a blue flame muzzle and a turkey bag is cool to me, I'd get it for sure!
3. Clans
Of course i have a clan, I always deposit ZP into my clan
(ZP deposits help other members buy clan items)
4. Temp. ZP guns
I also like these, they're okay as long as you renew them
5. Characters
Characters say alot about you..
I want the SPOP
//->End CrossFire ZP guide<-//
I think that covered all the areas of CrossFire (Now Z8Games, give me 20,000 ZP for making this guide .. Just kidding )
(PS: I didn't copy and paste or steal ideas from ANY other guide. i wrote this ALL myself, took a while.)
Hopefully you enjoyed my guide and I'd appreciate some comments.

someone actually read all this?
It was written to be read.
Not a bad guide although some use of bold could have helped instead of seeing sentence after sentence and getting lost in all that text.
If you have 14.4K ZP you can trade it for 100K GP and a pair of "glasses" but the option of getting 120K GP with a 30day namecard since you get an extra 20k GP. Imo option 2 is better unless you care for appearances in-game or don't need the extra GP.
You didn't mention ghost mode?
Overall, nice guide & it's unfortunate some people will tl;dr and/or make unnecessary posts. -
i prefer wireless so things don't get messy
The problem with wireless is that 1. batteries can and do die, usually at the worst moment, 2. their signal is prone to interference (microwaves cause lulz), and 3. there is a slight amount of lag between mouse movement and cursor movement.
Wired > wireless :P
Other than that, a decent guide although it could use some formatting to improve it's readability.
