The new layout is worse, there are way more bugs, and in-game mouse movement feels different than before.

The biggest one is the layout. The old one was waay better.

And what was really the upgrade to add '2.0'? The 2.0 patch which happened at the end of 2015 was way overhyped and when it came out most of the players were disappointed to see what has changed.

Are you confused with the difference between 2.0 and 2?

Afaik the only thing that is 2.0 related in our version are the 2.0 maps

Crossfire 2 (I think) is a completely different game in terms of graphics

It most likely is just like any other '____ 2' game. But the 2.0 patch which I'm sure you were there for just delivered a mess instead of what it was supposed to bring.
