failed to download version.ini error

so every time i try and open the game it gives me that error failed to download version.ini the weirdest thing is that when i check cf folder i don't find the version.ini file where the hell is it ??
P.S i've just downloaded and installed cf if any one can upload that file for me please and thank you

I have uploaded the veriosn.ini file.the reason you are missing this file from cf folder may be due to your antivirus picked it up.

i downloaded it at put it in the directory but it give me the same error
btw i currently haven't installed any kind of antivirus protection

You should Download it as well and place it in your crossfire folder:

Downloading files from other users on the forums is not recommend since they could contain viruses (I'm not claiming that is the case).

I would suggest to make sure that the file is readable by right clicking on the file and opening it with a notepad.

If anything is going to help, reinstalling the game will do. Follow these steps to ensure that you get the best outcome:

1. Control Panel -> Z8Games -> CrossFire -> Uninstall CrossFire.
2. Open Up My Computer.
3. Delete the CF directory (Program Files/Z8Games/CrossFire/).
4. Delete the CF directory (/Document/CrossFire/) (Make sure you backup any screenshots or replays you may have before doing this).
5. Disable your anti virus.
6. Download the newest client from our downloads site.
7. Install the game from the new download.
8. Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions.
9. Re-enable realtime protection.
