Cant play on Windows Vista

so everytime I turn on crossfire while running on my HP Windows Vista laptop, during a game, my screen always goes blank and it says there has been an error.
I checked out the FAQ, and the closest thing I could find was

Right-click the game icon on your desktop and choose "Properties" and then select the "Compatibility" tab at the top of the window that appears. At the bottom under input settings, check the box that says "Turn off advanced text services for this program" then choose "Apply". If you require further assistance, please post a detailed summary of your problem in the Cross Fire Tech Support forum or submit a support request directly here.

However, when I go into my compatibility tab, the only options I see are.

1. Run this program in compatibility mode (When I run in windows XP Service pack 2, its still fcuked up).
2. run in 256 colors
3. Run in 640x480 screen resolution
4. Disable visual themes
5. Disable desktop composition
6. Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
7. Run this program as an adminstrator.

Anyone know how to fix this.
Everytime Im playing a game or right when I finish the game, it always goes blank causing me to force shut down my laptop.
