File is changed
So I get on, patch cf, get on, start spinning....
After like 100 crates, I randomly get a bluescreen. I'm like okay...
Turn on pc again and when I open CF:
So a file was changed while my pc was off? Anyone else got this??
Edit: Apparently it's non-existing file

As you can see.. I can't properly install the game cause of this file.
Tried to do a system restore to yesterday and last week. Both failed cause of "1 file".
And this is what my antivirus says:
Gen:Variant.Mikey is an adware browser addon that is installed through a bundled wrapper from a third-party installer that wraps multiple adware offers. It usually comes bundled for offers of free or sponsored software that include free games, video players, privacy tools and other as well as software from download portals.
I still have no idea how the hell I got that out of nowhere since I didn't have that yesterday before I went sleep. -
So, I'm reinstalling for like the 5th time now.
It appears that I can't install the game in the "Z8Games" folder, even thought it doesn't exist anymore. Because that was where the infected file was located at.
What I don't understand, is that I can't install it in that folder even thought I scanned my computer and deleted the virus shown above.Maybe it's because your VMWare ^^ lmao. -

Wow,so I shouldnt really try to reinstall it again...this gonna be a headache. -
I had the same errors.
I reinstalled Cf -> was ok -> after restart PC same errors
Deinstalled Bitdefender -> same errors
after deinstalling Betdefender and reinstalling CF again it works fine even if I restart PC.
So I think it was Bitdefender although I put CF folders to the antivirus exception list -
It's most likely a false positive with whatever Anti-Virus you are using.
I'd assume Bitdefender?

Put Bugtrap.dll into the exception list for both Manual Scans and Automated Background Scans.
Or switch to a better Anti-Virus solution as I don't really find Bitdefender that reliable.
In order to save you guys the trouble of having to reinstall, I'll just include my Bugtrap.dll file for you.

Have you guys tried to add your CF folders/BugTrap to the antivirus exception list? What about running CrossFire as Admin?
If that doesn't work then I suggest you to try these steps:
1) Uninstall your anti-virus.
2) Uninstall CrossFire.
3) Delete the CrossFire Folder in "Program Files".
4) Install a fresh copy of CrossFire.
5) See if the problem has been fixed.
If the problem has been fixed then it's definitely your anti-virus and I suggest to use alternate anti-virus for the time being. -

Oh I've tried that.
Scanned whole pc.
Uninstalled cf.
Disabled antivirus and antimalware.
Redownloaded cf & install.
And it was still giving me the error that I couldn't install.
----
But anyways, I fixed it so this can be closed -

Glad to hear it's been fixed. Mind sharing the solution so others can see in case if they get the same issue? -

Even though the file(and whole folder was deleted)... and it wasn't letting me install under the folder name "Z8Games", I just changed the location of where I wanted to install CF
