When does an IGN become available?

I have send a support ticket to request a manual name change since the name I want is already taken.
The account that has the name I would like to have is registered 4 months ago and has only logged in once since it was registered. Still 0 exp and 0 games.
To my surprise in the reply I got I was told said account is still active. I made a new ticket asking how long an account has to be offline for its name to become available so I know when I can send the name change request again.
The reply I recieved explained that they "unfortunately" dont dont tell players how long an account has to be inactive before the IGN can be used.

Sooo, my question is: Does anyone know when a name becomes available for use? I think its 6 months but I just wanna know for sure.

Usually it's their rank that determines how long they have to be inactive for, so I'm assuming since it's a smiley it shouldn't take much longer.

As far as I'm aware you need to send a ticket to free up an inactive IGN, they then remove it and the original owner has a grace period in which to submit a ticket to reclaim it, if they don't, then it's available.

If im right, it was 1 year. Someone took the name ADIGA from the real legend.

And yeah, if they say it's active. then it is.

Maybe its someone's forum account etc. I Dunno, but if I was right. it was 1 year

The owner can't reclaim it, they don't give him time. Well, he gets time. to stay active hehe. But after being inactive for a long time, it's free to other.

Well im just wondering why they refuse to tell me how long I will have to wait.

I mean isnt that easier for both? I dont have to send a new ticket every month and they dont have waste their time on my tickets.

To anyone that has taken the IGN of an inactive account: What rank was it and how long was it offline?

Support isnt really helping so im just trying to get an idea. I will probably make another attempt in 2 months from now.

Haven't had any help since the new policy brought by the IGN Purge, I feel we should have another one for those who have been inactive 1 year or Haven't played on the account since the day it was created.

I just haven't replied because the topic was more or less answered :P But yes, someone has to be considered inactive by us to have their IGN freed. There are a number of factors that go into deciding if someone is inactive or not, its unfortunately not as simple as 'X number of days'.

Alright thanks for replying.
Lets say an account has only logged in once after creation but has never played even a single match, there arent many factors to look at in this case except for the x number of days. Can you give me an idea of how many months it has to be offline to be considered inactive in the case i just discribed?

Two scenarios:
1. If the account still has the IGN but the player is inactive, you have to wait a year. I wanted to take the IGN "Aftermath" but Support didn't let me despite the account being a Smiley face account that hadn't been logged into since the day the account was made (7 months ago at the time). They said the account's still considered active. When I wanted the IGN "Cynical-", they gave it to me without any problems because the account was inactive for more than a year.

2. If the account is active but the IGN you want was recently used by them, you'll have to wait 3 months from the time of their IGN change to steal their old IGN.

Most helpfull answer yet. I guess its scenario 1 because its still a smiley who did nothing but log in once after creation. He has been offline for 4 months now,
Would really suck if I had to wait another 8 months for its IGN to become available even tho the account is obviously not being used nor has it ever been actually used.

Small update. The account has been offline for 6 months by now so I tried again but with no luck.

Apparently an account that has been created 6 months ago, never even played a single game and only logged in upon creation is still considered active by z8.
Sooo yeah I guess I wasted some zp on that name change.

I do have to give props to supports fast response, took them like 5 mins lol.
