XTrap

So ive been playing crossfire for quite sometime now but recently about 2 days ago every time i run crossfire this would pop up about X-TRAP saying "Timed out waiting for intialing xtrap-engine" I dont know how to fix this could someone please give me some suggestions on how to fix this thanks.

First thing to do - go into the game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire) and rename/move the folder called "XTrap" - this will force it to download the newest version which hopefully will fix the issue.

If not, upload a screenshot of the exact error and I'll reply

It looks like something could be blocking X-Trap from updating. My suggestion would be to add CrossFire and X-Trap to your exception list in your anti-virus and firewall. Then delete the files within X-Trap, so when you start CrossFire, it will automatically download the new files from X-Trap. Also make sure your running CrossFire as Admin!

Rename/move the folder "xtrap" what do you mean by that? like delete the folder?

Just delete the files in the folder. And then start CF as Admin.

or just right click the folder, select "Rename" and type in OLD before XTrap so it will force to download a new one.

Ok so i deleted all the files in xtrap and hgwc what do i do after that? chang x-trap to "old xtrap" once i deleted all the files in that folder than run cf as admin?

if you've deleted the files, thats the same thing, so just try running CF as admin now

Yeah i just did then i ran "Na Crossfire Launcher" as admin then it popped up again saying "timed out waiting for intialing xtrap-engine"and i turned of my AV

what about your firewall? If its timed out it's likely a port is blocked as opposed to something being blocked by the AV

So how do i let firewall allow x-trap if i deleted the files.

try turning windows firewall off temporarily to see if thats part of the reason first, no point adding an exception if thats not the issue...

Also, a screenshot of the exact error and error code is always helpful
