For beginners, Paint.net is good, open source, has lots of plugins (megalo plugin pack is good http://paint.net.amihotornot.com.au/download/pluginspack/) and has lots of tools similar to photoshop...

Gimp is good too, again, open source with a variety of plugins again

Photoshop is good, but expensive if you get it legitly, and takes more time to learn imo...I edit most of my photo's in paint.net and only use photoshop for specific tasks...

Couple questions:

1. Can they be holiday themed?

2a. For axes can we choose the damage stats? (We need more full damage axes)

2b. Can they have a sound effect? (Like the tomahawk)

There is no limit on the number of submissions per user. So get creative and submit as many as you want!

I have a few favorites- honestly, you can learn how to use editing software simply by looking up tutorials on Youtube. There's a lot of self taught folks out there that are incredible at design. For beginners, Photoshop is the obvious go too, you can get a free 30 day trial simply by signing up on the adobe website. My personal favorite to draw on (as weird as it sounds) is Adobe Flash, which is actually an animating software- but its very flexible with what you can do with it. The line tool is great for smooth shape work. You should be able to get Flash also from the Adobe website.

I just have a single question: Do the designs have to be rendered on computer? Or can I print out the templates, draw my designs by hand, then scan it?

Since it's been so long, my guess would be that they'll give us the list and crates along with the spring green ones after the maintenance. ( at least I hope....)
