X-Trap Error

Hi everybody,

I've been recently having a problem with x-trap which I thought would go away by what was recommended to do on a support ticket. The message says "An abnormal game client has been detected. Please, re-install the game client." If anybody had the same problem and was able to fix it, please me know. Thank you in advance!

  • Usually that one is a one off sort of error. Best bet likely is to do another ticket if this keeps happening, that way they can have a log of the error and hopefully narrow it down with you.
    1. Make sure there is nothing running in the background which might conflict with CrossFire.
    2. Also try to add CrossFire folder to your exceptions list on your firewall and anti-virus systems.
    3. Make sure you run CrossFire as Admin.
  • Unfortunate that's the case... I have added exceptions for both firewall and anti-virus systems choosing all of the applications like HGWC and did it as admin. Is there one anti-virus that has been working well for everybody? I was thinking of trying that to see if that's the case if there's something running that my current one isn't detecting
  • Open up task manager/processes right after you get the error, print screen post the img here. As me thinks there is something else conflicting with xtrap
Myself i had a reg32.dll messing me about for a while.
Also try run/msconfig untick any unwanted programs on boot.
My processes before i start CF :)

Have you tried a clean re-install..? That's what the message is telling you to do...

    Uninstall the game
Delete the z8Games folder under "Program Files (x86)"
    Restart your PC

Download the new installer from HERE
Install a clean version of the game.

It might work but im sure something else is conflicting with the client. Awaits SI_Delta SS of Task Mgr :)
  • Thank you everybody for the suggestions of getting this fixed. I figured out that it was the issue of my antivirus. I switched to Avast, which I was skeptical it would work just switching an antivirus program, it worked though so I'm playing crossfire with no problems now!
