game closes with no errors after 3 minutes exactly from process start

you know there is something wrong when a 9 year old game still encounters stupid issues about game stability,
after the 2.0 update i decided i would go back to play the game (after moving to battlefield 3 &4)
then what i find ? a game that can't be played for more than 3 minutes. GJ

now to the details :
i installed the latest version of the game

OS : Win10
.NET framework : 4.6
Graphics card : Radeon HD 7750
Driver : Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.1.1
Antivirus : Disabled all shields
Firewall : Disabled

  • I know you have already re-installed however, I suggest you follow these steps. I'm guessing you missed deleting your 'CrossFire folder' or something. I suggest you re-install again, following these steps.

    - Control Panel -> Z8Games -> CrossFire -> Uninstall CrossFire
    - Open Up My Computer
    - Delete the CF directory (Program Files/Z8Games/CrossFire/)
    - Delete the CF directory (<user>/Document/CrossFire/)
    - Disable your anti virus
    - Download the newest client from our downloads site
    - Install the game from the new download
    - Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions
    - Re-enable realtime protection

Once you have done that, try playing again.

If the game still crashes, I suggest to send a support ticket here: http://support.z8games.com/us/index.php?/Tickets/Submit

However, let me know if that works for you.
  • wow you literally just copy pasted this from another post, nice.
i already did all of that in case someone would tell me to do them to save both of our time.
so either give me a real answer or just admit that your programmers can't fix anything

Normally when the game closes with no errors is either that your CrossFire folder is corrupted or that you haven't gave CrossFire full access.

    Some of my suggests:
    1) I know you already disabled your firewall and ant-virus however, it wouldn't hurt if you add them to the safe list. This will allow them to have full access to your connection and internet.
    2) Make sure that there is no unwanted programs running in your background. This can cause CrossFire to close. So close any unwanted programs or programs that you don't need at the moment.
    3) Update your software and any hardware such as graphic card. Install any 'Windows Update' that you may have.

Let me know if these have worked for you or not.

    1 - crossfire folder added
2 - all recording programs are terminated , nothing can control crossfire exe is open
    3 - http://puu.sh/nlBjw/1f3a54ce59.jpg
    * what's weird is not that it closes without errors,it's that it closes every 3 minutes exactly after the exe starts

Do you have any other programs running the background? It's either that or your CrossFire folder is corrupted which will explain why it closes exactly at 3 minutes.
  • how would my crossfire folder be corrupt if i freshly installed it ?

One factor could be; other programs affecting the files or if your computer system has virus, it can infect some of your files.

Did you try to close any other programs in background? If so, try running CrossFire again as admin and let me know if it works or not.
  • i will try a third re-install ,will tell you results tomorrow.
or not,i am going back to bf3 thanks for your efforts anyway

  • I have the same exact porblem. My drivers are up do date and my PC can run this game easy. When i log in, it closes for no reason what so ever. I have re installed it but still nothing. What if its an AMD thing because i have an AMD based PC aswell.
  • msaud32_divx.acm issues can happen for several reasons , i think yes it's an AMD thing
  • I decided to reinstall it after sometime away also because after updating the game and entering it, it normally would close before I could even enter a channel with no error, so I thought "Hmm, maybe there's something wrong with my files" so I reinstalled it, and have the same problem as everyone else now. In the middle of the game CrossFire just abruptly closes without warning or error? I used to play this game all the time a year or two ago with no known issues.?

either it's the newest AMD driver or the newest CF patch

Done that and got no help. Btw is this the only thing you say on the forums?
  • Done that and got no help. Btw is this the only thing you say on the forums?

Half of the time we can't help you. In terms of 'we' I mean the players on the forums. This is the reason why Support is here, to help with your problems. They have more knowledge on their game and will help you get it solved as quickly as possible.

Just be happy that players are willing to spend their time to help you. We don't get paid like the GM's.
  • I meant no offence, its just that i did that and got no help.

No worries. What about the response you got?
  • They told me to uninstall and reinstall and some step by step ways they thought that could fix the problem. I did it all but the game still isnt working.

Can you reply back to that support ticket? If not then I suggest you send another ticket explaining the things that you have already tried and tell that it has not worked for you. This way, they will not give you solutions which you have already tried and will give you solutions which might help you.
  • I finaly figured out why the game closes. Its the AMD Gaming evolved (aka Raptr). As soon as i disabled that, i could play CF for an hour straight without a problem.

Ohhhh I know your problem now. You need to disable "Track Gameplay" in Raptr. That way, you can still have it running in the background and play CrossFire. I also use Raptr.

and how to disable it ? i closed the process and it still does the same thing

    Follow the following steps:

    1) Open Raptr.
    2) Go to your library.
    3) Under the list "Installed Games", click on "CrossFire".
    4) On the right side, there should be two tick boxes. One for "Track Gameplay" and another for "In-game overlay".
    5) Un-tick both boxes.
    6) Start CrossFire again as admin.

I hope that works for you. I had the same problem before (around 2-3 years ago) with Raptr.
  • it didn't work, will re-install amd gaming evolved and check
  • We're aware of some problems recently with Raptr and are looking into it. For now, I imagine you should just keep it closed while playing CF.
  • Wait, people... !! I have the same problem here... and i have no idea what is the raptr. Any tips?

Close any programs you don't need in the background. Then start CrossFire again as admin. See if that has worked for you.

If not, then let me know what kind of error your getting? When does it happen? And what solutions have you tried already?
