GUIDE TO SHADOW MODE [Will be more in-depth if proven to be popular or useful]

Bit of background about me and why I wrote this guide
My IGN is Ramyskie and I migrated from Korean server to Z8games a few months ago. However I did not keep up date with what changed in Crossfire. So, while trying out the new modes, I discovered Shadow Mode and soon fall in love with the mode.

Sadly, troubles soon followed. As a player who devotes to understand mechanics and map control, I have good map knowledge on Lost Castle as a GR. This meant that I am often considered as a Hacker if I performed well or sometimes I got lucky in one round when I eliminated too many BL. (Not my fault that my gatling gun is pointing to the door and you came out of it fully visible under sprinkler .___.) Then, they will rage and my team will kick me.

So this brings me here to share some of the knowledge on the map and hopefully improve GR play-style and clams those raging fires. (In a bid that I can complete daily mission without getting kicked out of every game. :/)

Summary of DOs and DON'Ts do
-DO stay in an advantage point if possible.
-DO use cliffs when backing off as they let you fall and reposition yourself while killing any chaser mid-air.
-DO use sprinklers and detectors to your advantage.
-DO keep moving on the spot in an open area if your defence breaks down. (When everyone on you team is scattered or you are the few left)
-DO run backwards and face towards the breathing, butDON'T back into a dead corner.
-DO watch the colour of you cross-hair.
-DON'T reload doing combat but DO switch to melee and fight while listen to breathing.
-DO watch the top right corner for indicator of enemy, but DON'T spray when the indicator is not up. (Noise + Waste of bullets)
-DO use the 5.1 sound. (Amazing improvement to your senses, you can detect the approximate direction they are coming from.
-DO start spraying in 360 or an approximate area if you can not pinpoint enemy. (You might get lucky and hit them)
-DON'T stand still in an open area.

  • Damn, that's quite the effort. It certainly is useful. But I personally think this Mode is dead, and that it's design in general is a bit lackluster.

It might just be me though. Kudos!
  • tried playing shadow mode cause of daily missions. pretty boring.
plus I deleted my whole snd2 folder for the sake of ghost mode, so I don't hear any breath in shadow mode and I'm not bothered enough to find the files to reinstall hehe

    nice thread though
  • Looks nice. But that mode is kinda boring tbh.
  • Not trying to sound rude but I wanted to take this seriously untill the moment I saw: Gatling gun with a rating of 4.5/5 Really? :| That slow moving and loud af elephant gun...its so easy to kill someone who uses that... I cannot agree on the weapons part, but the rest of the guide I like it.

I actually like/love Shadow mode, IMO its so easy to get frags with the AK and even snipe them egys (since they move in a straight line without side stepping at all)
  • Nice guide, but I agree with svanced, I'm not a fan of the gun choices. Also shadow mode is just ghost mode for people that can't bhop or PP well. You should give GM a try if you like shadow mode so much, it takes a bit more skill.
  • Of course, it is the deadliest gun there is in SM in terms of pure defensiveness. I don't think noise would matter at close range, since you want to only fire when they are close enough, by then if you still can't find enemy you are dead, so rate of fire and magazine size become priority over noise. Ghost mode is different from SM in this sense. In ghost mode you require careful sense and very very slow pace.
The -0.5 is for the slow-moving, but other than that, sound do not matter a huge amount in SM since most of the time you hear any is when they are attacking you.In the future, i will show videos of game play for each gun. To illustrate what i mean and why the ratings for the gun. For now, i will rate it down :)
@ iAnarchy SM offers a sense of excitement for the BL and swap the GR hunting BL to the more interesting BL hunting GR. ANNNNND the chance of using Gatling without getting kick for being too noisy :3

Thats why people who think like you/that are so easy to kill.Honestly, only noobs would use MG's in shadow mode.(unless you own the KAC) A rifle and a stereo headset does the job more than enough. It's not GM so pinpointing is easier/for everyone.
  • Eh agree with the posts above. Any MG are really bad IMO. Use a silenced rifle, way better, and buy extended mags.... Ghost side is easy... Use a bat, broken kukri if you're cheap and/or poor, does the job. Maybe back in the day when it came out it was hard, but now its just egys if anything, and I don't think sound exists in that country so its free kills around the clock.... Joke of a mode, also a dead one too.
  • sounds always been buggy for me. pp isnt as accurate as it is in gm. bl is op if you have a combination of common sense and average knifing skills. gr is full of mg trash that just sprays ppl down. use a silenced rifle and play like a pr0. over 10kd in shadow mode but its 2 ez so i stopped playin. np.
