I'm fairly sure you can "choose" what you learn in school, at least after highschool. Also for anyone who didn't know, you can also learn stuff outside of school (politics, first aid, etc...).

At least in your country you don't have to learn ancient Bible manuscripts . I remember in my finale high school exams I had to know the whole bible stories(7000 pages of nonsense)by rote

and in my history finale exams I had to know every little detail about the holocaust (Ghettos / Hitler / partisan / difficulties/ causes)

that was a nightmare
