Standard Weapons / Items / Conditions
in Ghost Mode
Once upon a time before breath down/footsteps down, V.I.P's, and totally O.P. melee weapons (Kukri, bat, etc), ghost mode was a marvelous mode. Their was great balance between GR using M4 or silenced M4's while ghosts tended to use axes or shovels. Ghosts would stalk out the attackers using techniques as circling bhops, teamwork ganging, or rushing smartly to expend the enemies ammo before going in for the kill. Similarly GR would use the environment and move with side to side, shift walking, or choose angles that were conducive to fending off ghosts ability to strike. How many times do you remember walking in to A site in lab to the base of the ramp and knowing instantly that their was a ghost camping on the pipe to the right or the poster above?
We know that this old school glory of ghost mode is not coming back. The game has changed and "superior weapons/items" were introduced. A lot of the older GM players who recognized how great GM once was resisted this change by not allowing their members to use kukri/ KSG / VIP's / etc.
But once again the trend is started. More O.P. weapons will be introduced. The same goes for items. So it gets very tricky to use the standard axe / b.d. combo vs. GR because of V.I.P's. Similarly as GR, it gets trickier to use regular silenced M4's (the heavy weight against light one hit kill melee's changes the superiority of silenced non-vip m4's) against ghosts with O.P. weapons (although i would argue GR has favor with V.I.P's currently)
So my question is should the general stigma of using these V.I.P.'s / other ghost melee weapons be abolished for tournament play? New "superior" weapons on both sides may increase the number of combinations and strategy available. Is it time to embrace V.I.P's and other totally "O.P." weapons. They say if you can't beat them....join them right? At least everyone would be equal.
Personal opinion:
I think its terribly disgusting as a ghost to bhop through and just see spray. Random spray. Guns with 50+ (rpk vip) bullets that are accurate, powerful, lightweight and absurdly overpowered. Their seems to be no downside to random spray. Pinpointing is well on its way to becoming a lost art. The absolute worst part about being a ghost is even if you manage to get in a GR's face and they are RELOADING, no longer do you finally get your kill. One simple right click using a V.I.P. and your dead from a melee slash. Lame.
Using bat / bladed knuckles, kukri, wrench, / other melee weapons can also be "O.P." Compared to GR's weapons however.....it honestly doesn't matter what melee weapon is used.
Thoughts? Solutions?

Yeah you're right. Kukri vs. a VIP m4 still isn't fair to BL cause of the stupid right click. It's not as bad as it was before the recent patch where they fixed the ability to spam right click, though. The AA-12 is another OP gun however it's not as widely used as the VIPs or KSGs because it's a temp ZP weapon. Most of the people now barely even pinpoint, they just empty their clip in the direction they hear breath and hope for the best. Pubs aren't fun for me anymore unless I use something like the Dual Uzis or a melee LOL

the thing is, even if you wanted to join them, it costs too much. a vip kukri + vip m4 combine for 200-300$. i'm thinking a lot of people have stopped spending money on the game at this point.
would think about that before considering the balance/integrity side of the mode. because there's so much to say, so many diff opinions. -

Agreed. I still love the axe. So balanced in terms of damage. The left click is my favorite to get a quick hs.
I have also been experimenting with dual karambits. It is INSANELY fast. However in order to use it properly one needs a very good bhop.....because the range is so ******* The range is practically non-existent.....you practically need to be inside the other person so very difficult to attack and then move. Requires a better bhop than i have. And because range is shortened, some jumps / right click do not have enough range to land the kill.
Still seem to love the axe. -
Personally I've got a few VIPs, but I hate using then in GM because I feel that they're cheap (not literally of course) and pay to win weapons. In most pubs I notice for anyone above the rank of 2nd LT that about 2/3 of them actively use OP weapons regardless of which side they're on. Also the rampant abuse of spraying in pubs is a problem. I personally think it's sad how dependent people are on their OP weapons to do well. As for should we join them or not, I say no.

you and the rest of exertus loved using vips until we started <removed> talking you guys. -
Depends on the player I guess. I love using classic guns when I play. Definetly never use any vips for the sake of how easy it is. I dunno recently i've been getting on more and watch alot of so called "gm players" and all I see is the left mouse button being held down. Seems like seeing someone actively pin point is pretty friggen rare. Sure they "use sound" but its not close to what players did back in the day. Controlled bursts, and taps to where the ghosts were are basically non existant. All I see is a general spray to where the sound of ghosts are.
As for weapons, I personally use either m4a1 regular and de regular, or a m4 silver/custom/custom-crystal and maybe an anaconda adv. Trying to control any spray and just really play like we used to. It's rare, but I enjoy forcing myself to not go with the general spray and actually use some skill.
You ask for solutions. There's literally nothing you can do about it. Only thing I'd love to see implemented is to be able to weapon ban on a room. Like have the option as room host to make it "gp only weapons" and hell have an option to make it "vip only weapons" for the asians. That's probably the only way I can see this problem getting fixed.
Vips killed this game, lets be honest. I came back and there's so many OP guns nowadays there's really nothing we can do about it. Have some self dignity and just use something not OP....
I dunno just my general thoughts on what I saw over the last like 3 days of me getting online finally. -
I agree with you.
GM isn't as fun as it used to be.
But hey, BD and Axe still work.
VIP is just too overpowered and was just a get rich quick method from SmileGate.
But be real, the game would be nowhere without it.
Don't forget the losers who use macros to bhop and the "pinpointers" who spray everywhere with their m4-vip whenever they hear you. -
Come back for one day, talk trash then leave. Where's chop, he's got to be hiding somewhere.
