GM guide revamp

Roggi and I had worked a bunch on some new guides last year but got busy and never finished. We are starting up again on them, if anyone wants to help or make clips / write ups post them here and we will add them in.

  • Basics of Pinpointing:
    > Breath Centring: (Direct Pinpointing).

    > Breath Compensation: If the breath is located infront or behind you. Either the breath comes from above or below you.

    > Flanking: (Flanking and neutralizing a fleeing ghost.)

    > Breath Queueing: (Prioritizing which breath to pinpoint and neutralize. Kill the ghost which is about to attack you and then switch to the other one).

    > Breath Locking: (Once a breath is heard, the pinpointer is locked onto it. And he/she will wait for the right moment to make a move.

    > Cover Firing: (Spraying or shooting through a team mate just to save him/her. Useful when someone is defusing the bomb).

    > Long Range Engagements: (It involves a sharp sense of sight. Killing a ghost in long ranges without the use of sense of hearing) Aim lower than the area that you are looking, So you can see more things in the area you are looking at. Then whenever you see a ghost moving in that area don't hesitate to fire.

    > Sacrifice: (Sacrificing yourself just to protect a team mate. Useful when someone is defusing the C4.)
Blocking the attack is the best way to sacrifice yourself in order to complete the objective. Or getting into the way of the ghost in order to protect a valuable person in the team.
    Q:What is “Pinpointing”?
A: Pinpointing is the term used for locating nearby ghost even though you can’t see them
"A player that can detect and kill ghosts within half a second after contact is called a Pinpointer,
Some players accuse pinpointers as 'Hackers' because they can kill a ghost even though its stationary"

    Q:How does a pinpointer find a stationary/moving ghost?
A: By centering the breath in their headphones, whenever they hear a breath, they tend to look at where they heard the breath (even though the breath is behind a wall, above them or under) and then they will look a bit to the left/right of the breath to further increase the accuracy of their pinpointing

    Q:What is their Pinpointing limit?
A: Pinpointing depends on Environment noise level(Real life or In-game), and their Headset volume.

    Hope it helps....

Guide #1: how to bhop *insert Madanki's video*
  • This tutorial was posted by me back in 2009! Then it got posted on every site known to man and everyone pretended it was theirs... fools. Still got the proof.

Basic Tutorial On how to b-hop in Crossfire!
~B-hopping can be useful in modes like G.M, its a movement of not being seen and can help not make any foot noise while going across the map.

There are 3 types of bhop:
    1) Back bhop
    2) Forward Bhop
    3) Side Bhop & fs Bhop

    How to do Back Bhop:
    1) Join a game.
    2) Hold 'S'and 'Ctrl'.
    3) When your holding 'S' + 'Ctrl", hit the space bar.
    4) If you are successful, you will be able to do back bhop with 100% visibility.
    5) Before you hit the ground, automatically press 'Space bar'.
    6) In this b-hop your 0% visible.

    How to do Forward Bhop:
    1) Join a Game.
    2) Press 'W' for about 1-3 seconds.
    3) When doing step 2, jump in the air.
    4) When your jumping in mid air press 'Ctrl'.
    5) When you hit the ground press space bar again. This part is essential, if you mess up this, you have to start again.
    6) This Bhop allows you to be 0% visible. You might flash in first 2-3 jumps after that your 0% visible.

    How To Side/Forward bhop:
    1) Repeat Forward B-hop with just the control with 'A' & 'D'.
    2) Forward bhop is hard to do, so in order to do side bhop, you will need to master forward bhop first. With this bhop, you have 0% visibability if you do it right.

Guide #1: how to bhop *insert Madanki's video*

Lol nah don't do that, thanks but it's a basic guide at best; it left out the more major skilled types. Also I didn't hop as good in the video :p.
  • Tips for BL (Ghost)

Tactics that will help you do well:

    - It's generally better to play with a higher mouse sensitivity so you can do a 180 without moving too much.

    - I can't stress this enough - bhopping isn't everything. It's important to be comfortable with bhops, yes, but it's even more essential to have a 'sense' for the game.

    What I mean by 'sense':

    - Just because you're invisible doesn't mean you shouldn't make use of cover when you can. If you get spotted, you can either bhop or run behind over and reset your bhop. Or if you rush an enemy and there are others nearby, just duck back for cover before resetting your bhop. You should also take cover if you're being sprayed at, or you think you're going to get sprayed at.

    - Try to approach the enemy from behind or the side when possible.

    - Take advantage of teammates. Sure, this might sound like a scumbag move, but your teammates end up getting you killed more often than not if you group with them. You can use your teammates to figure out the location of enemies (more on this in the next point), or take advantage of their breath to sneak up on an enemy (their breath will mask yours and the enemy will let their guard down).

    - Keep track of your enemies. Listen to footsteps/gunshots/reload sounds (BL can pinpoint too!). Be grateful that your map tells you where teammates die, and your UI also tells you who killed them. Knowing where the enemy is is really important for setting up kills or 'safe' routes, or locating key targets, which leads to the next point:

    - You usually want to go in for the enemy's backline, people who have KSGs, or more skilled players even if it means weaving past 4 people without hitting them.

    - Keep a lookout for your surroundings. You can rotate your camera with your mouse even while bhopping and it won't change your direction unless you're going backwards or if you're steering with A/D (more on steering in the next section).

    - Things that reveal you: smoke grenades, the red circle from the bomb zone, lasers (not laser sights), very bright lights (A site in labratory).

    - Always, ALWAYS plan your next move, if not your next two moves. For example, after I kill someone, I'd already have my next target in mind and would be bhopping towards them while fleeing.

    - Don't go in vents with the bomb, or places where it might be hard to retrieve in case you die with it. I usually just drop the bomb at the beginning of matches because I know i'm going to go deep into enemy spawn.

    Bhopping:

    - Don't bhop in a straight line to run away after you kill someone.

    - Bhop against walls when fleeing after a kill when you're in a narrow place like a corridor; in an open space, bhop in a zigzag or a curve (just not in a straight line).

    - Learn how to bhop up ramps (or how to spam spacebar really fast).

    - Don't be afraid to stop bhopping. Sometimes after I kill someone and I'm being sprayed at, I bhop once, stop, do a 180 turn, and then bhop the other way. The enemy just keeps spraying in your initial direction because they expected you to have continued your bhop.

    - Know when to let go of CTRL. Although it reveals you, letting go of CTRL mid-bhop prevents you from overshooting when you're bhopping towards an enemy who's walking towards you) which happens sometimes with slow/short melee weapons.

    - Use A/D (left+right keys) to steer in order to drift or make sharp turns when bhopping (works when going forward or backwards).
