How do they know which are the starting 5 if there are roster changes throughout the season?
The top 3 teams determined at the end of the season - their starting 5 players will be awarded with the prizes we promised. We will look to try and get some sort of prize for subs however, they at least have to be played. You can't just sit there on the winning team's roster in hopes to win the main prize.
The starting 5 is basically the 5 main players that play each week. We understand there are roster changes. Well that's too bad because when you quit/leave/get kicked out from your team, you are no longer part of that team. A real team is imo, defined by having little to no roster changes at all, syncs to near perfection in games, and utilizes teamwork; strengths, knowledge, and individual mechanics all combined. -
Week 3's matchups have been posted. For this week we will do our best to finally start streaming one of the matches and potentially get some shoutcasting going with the livestreaming as well.

Please review them and potentially setup a mutually agreed time to play this week. Otherwise you will play at default, which again is not a problem. It is only a problem if you have not played your match and don't show up at default and past the grace period.
So for those teams that have not gotten one match in or even bothered to show up; please try to arrange or show up at default. And for other teams who may have contact with their opponents, or have friends that are playing in this tournament - remind each other that there are matches (especially for teams that have shown up at all). Thanks a lot and we'll see you on Saturday.
Edit: Rosters are open for changes as always. Two changes maximum for all teams. That's all for now. Any questions feel free to PM me or Logic. -
Make sure you get updates in by 7 AM EST on Saturday 10/24/15. After that even if you post, your request for roster change will not be valid and therefore will not be accepted. So at this point I'm assuming everyone is all set.
Reminder that once again Week 3 matchups have already been posted. Bolded teams are the home teams. Please pick-ban according to the generic policy. Glhf! -

Since they already played together, will the matchups be changed? If so, can you just drop the teams that don't show up (triX Waarmachine Poverty 3sUP teamBREAK) -
Yes but it wasn't their supposed matchup for that week, I think it was week one or something don't quite remember from the top of my head. I said that they could play wrG because of their high interest for some competition instead of just leaving without having played. Every matchup that I have drawn is used by a random name picker where I determine matchups based on randomization and whether or not I have listed the two teams as direct opponents before in a week. So up to week 4 there have been 4 different unique opponents for each team in theory, and two more remain (this week and next week) to be played.
I did realize if I allowed 'side matches' to be played then this question would come up later on. The reason we have 12 teams is for the 6 weeks to be balanced, and each team plays each other at least once, 2 x 6 = 12 in season 1. So for week 5 BurnOut should play wrG because technically they were not drawn to play, at least not up until this week.
Also just a note for teams. Playoff qualification will be based on the top 8 teams on the standings. This means that the teams that haven't played a single match at this point, will most likely not make it to the playoff stage. You also needed to have shown up at least once and gained standing points. For example if the season were to end now, the cutoff would be at triX:
E-rekt Gaming 8-1
Burnout 6-2
Intrusive 6-2
EscapeArtist 6-3
WRG 6-6
alphav 4-4
WLS 4-6
triX 2-6
Waarmachine 0-8
Poverty 0-8
3sUP 0-8
teamBREAK (disbanded)
And yes the teams that haven't played a match or haven't shown up at all will be automatically eliminated from contention for the playoffs. I do know that Carbon/3sUP is very busy in preparations for CFS and other international events. I wish them the best of luck in the upcoming battles to represent CFNA. That is a special case and unfortunately there isn't anything I can do there. But other than that it looks like Waarmachine, Poverty, 3sUP and teamBREAK will not reach the playoffs. Teams that don't show up for the rest of the regular season will still get 0-2's for the week and 2-0's will go to their designated opponent. That is how we've been doing it since week 1. -

Shouldn't it be the top 4 teams for play offs? It doesn't make sense for teams to get as high as 10 wins and have to keep playing on a weekly basis if their rankings on this list dont mean much of anything #Droids -
I did not expect this much of heavy inactivity but: whether you get ffw's granted or actually play out and win/lose your match of the week, it is still best to show up.
We are going with top 8 because some of the teams below the top four have played and it wouldn't be fair to them. And I don't think we will change formats late into the event as playoffs is going to happen after the Thanksgiving weekend. We will run quarterfinals, semis, and grand finals within 2 weeks and it should be done before Christmas. -

While its not fair for the bottom 4, it's also not fair to the top 4 either. Wins and losses don't matter then if you're going to include the teams that have lost more than the top 4 teams
Why strive to win if the teams they are playing are going to play in the playoffs with them anyways ( the top 2 teams on the leaderboard should get an additional prize (not as good as the playoff prize) to reward them for doing better than the other teams stats wise since they too have played every week since it wouldn't be fair to the teams below the top 4 -

Your reason to strive to win this season is to get a higher seed for the playoffs, therefore granting you an easier chance at the grand prizes. Top four have higher seeds, bottom four still get to play for the prizes.
We plan to have prizes for the higher performing teams at the end of regular season in the coming events. -

So the top 4 will essentially play the best of the bottom four? And how come there won't be prizes for the high performing teams at the end of this event -

We are going with a format as listed below:
First seed vs Eighth seed
Second seed vs Seventh seed
Third seed vs Sixth seed
Fourth seed vs Fifth seed
Quarterfinals RO8 -> semifinals RO4 and finally -> finals between the winners of the two semifinals
High performing teams in theory, are the teams that place 1st/2nd/3rd respectively in the season playoffs. Maybe it won't be the top 3 teams from the standings in that order but whichever teams place up there will receive prizes. To me that is high performing; we will get the prizes out to players based on what we promised. And unfortunately what we listed is all we were able to get from Z8. Definitely for next season we will look to improve that and change up the formats so every team can be rewarded for showing up and competing. That's all for now.
Roster changes are still possible. Week 6 is this Saturday at 7 PM EST default. Matchups will be posted sometime tomorrow.
After week 6 results the standings will be updated and we'll have a confirmed idea of the eight teams to move onto the playoff stage.
