Headphones
Hey everyone I've had my headphones for a few years now and i'm looking
to upgrade again. While I plan to keep using them for gaming I also will be
using them while traveling and in everyday life so post the best headphones
you can think of under $400. Currently looking at the Oppo PM-3 and the
Master and Dynamic MH40.

A huge waste of money. Worst investment eva
I use the "basic" iphone headphones and they work FANfreakinTASTIC. Don't waste your money on expensive gear when you can make do with cheap ones. -
i use astro a40s for everything like my ps4 xbox pc etc... i had them for 2 years and no problems... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/astro-gaming-a40-wired-dolby-7-1-surround-sound-gaming-headset-for-playstation-3-playstation-4-pc-and-mac-black-gray/8359124.p?id=1219328762058&skuId=8359124

When you listen to music with a nice set of headphones vs cheapy you know it.
Just like in a car if you listen to music on a 400$ system vs a 1500$ system you understand why its that much more, the sound is just amazing.
If you don;t really care for music then none of this really matters and cheapys will suffice. -
i use the 7.1 Razer Kraken Classics (comes with a stand) for $80
best head phones ive ever used....
i can hear peoples foot steps from halfway across the map....
In ghost mode i can hear the bomb being planted if i stand mid...
its a great bang for your buck
plus it comes with a Digital mic that retractable into the headset -

I've looked at razer headphones before, but thought they would be uncomfortable after long periods of time. I'll have to revisit them and see if I still feel the same way.
i mean like i use mind and all u do is move it it forward and back and ur good for 4hrs
i only move it cause my head itches at times -

100% this.
Buying headsets with 7.1 or 5.1 is a waste of money. It will only make it harder for you to pinpoint since in GM only stereo headsets are supported. -

that's like saying buy a honda instead of a ferrari because they both can get you to point A to point B.astro a40s7.1 Razer KrakenMathaholic wrote: »Logitech G430
durability problems, clunky, poor sound quality, leaves dents in your hair. he has 400$ to play with. why buy a cheap 70$ headset lol.
sorry but these are just all poor choices. i don't mean to bash, just trying to save readers their money because i have all of these and i don't recommend any of them. anarchy did you get something yet? the facebook post doesn't show up for me since i switched accounts. -

I've had my G430s for almost 2 years and they work like a charm. Can predict where enemies come from very easily, software very easy to use, and the 7.1 virtual surround sound is amazing for that headset's price which is a bang for the buck. $70 is a great investment for a great headset like the G430. Everyone has their opinions though. -

Nah I'm gonna wait until Christmas and see if there aren't any good sales, but right now I'm looking at the Oppo PM-3, master and dynamic MH40 and audio technica (I forgot the name but the 400$ black and silver ones that they have). Do you have any suggestions? Also try leaving the group on FB then re-apply and see if that helps. -

maybe. but 70$ gaming headsets simply don't compare to 200$ studio headphones.Nah I'm gonna wait until Christmas and see if there aren't any good sales, but right now I'm looking at the Oppo PM-3, master and dynamic MH40 and audio technica (I forgot the name but the 400$ black and silver ones that they have). no, i'm searching for a good one too. the best out of the 7 or so i own is an audio technica ath-m50. even though the sound quality is far better than any gaming headset, i doubt they compare to 400$ cans. they are a little tight too. i've never spent more than 200 on headphones, too scared lol. -

well for the fact you need to know, there is no real 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound if you use a headphone. You intake the sound from Left and Right ears which is 2.1 sound. The 5.1 or 7.1 is simply "virtual surround" sound which can be activate using software drivers like RealTek or STS Surround or DolbySound. In gaming, most recommend sound system is 2.1 stereo sound which gives you clear quality sound. There are 2 types of stereo headphones also. Open ear and closed ear. If you want best sound quality, open earcups is best. If you want decent to good sound quality but also somewhat noise isolation, the close cup style is the best. So 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound is simply make no different in gaming but it's good for "movies" if you looking to watch movies with it since 7.1 and 5.1 are purely made for home theater.
Back to gaming headphones, here are my best options.
Close earcups style: HyperX Cloud 1 ($80)
Open earcups style: Sennheiser Game Zero ($200)
Any headphones that are $200+ is simply because you buy them for the brand name, not for sound quality and build quality. (aka Beats and Apple stuffs)
If you're looking for something like for music and gaming at the same time, I would either go for Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, Sennheiser HD 598, Sony MDR-X10, Bose TrueSound, or Sony MDRXB950AP. They're from $100-200. Anything above $200 doesn't make much different unless you want to drop a $55,000 for the new Sennheiser headphone... or $1,400 for their HD800 series.
