2 second freezes

Hello,

So I recently bought a new PC,

CPU : AMD FX(tm)-8320 8-Core 3.5 GHz
RAM : 8 GB
GPU : AMD Radeon R9 300 Series
OS : Win 7 Pro x64
HDD : 1 TB -> CF is here
SSD : 120 GB

and now, Crossfire "freezes" every ~20 seconds for a second or two.
During the "freeze" I can't use my mouse and keyboard, so I can't shoot the enemy when I see them.

I tried every screen resolution in Crossfire, enabling/disabling details/colors/blood etc.

All other games run normaly.

  • Try installing crossfire on your SSD. That fixed it for me.
  • I tried installing it on my SSD, but that haven't solved the problem, so I have it installed on HDD again.

I also tried updating gpu drivers, changing some settings, but nope.

Another player (he identified himself as an IT) said that it could be a CPU problem, as Crossfire is poorly coded and stuff like that. As soon as I said that I'm using an AMD CPU, he "guessed" it's AMD FX :)

Im using AMD FX8350 and runs fine, only when playing spain I get huge stuttering which makes that map unplayable for me.
I play btf4 on high with higher and more stable fps than I get on Spain. Just shows how well optimized cf is lol
  • I suggest you guys to get a 120GB SSD just for few favorite games. Use a game-only SSD so that only the game you're running got read access on that drive.

And yes, micro-laggs while playing are mostly caused by programs at the background, which start a operation or so. Like update searching or something.
Close background task or get a PC, that can handle 100 programs at the same time without speed difference.

I can run a system backup, downloading stuff, running 3 browsers and play CF with 200-300FPS....
