Pre-Game load error

After clicking on 'Start Game' from the CF Box-looking-thing, it loads everything and goes up to the HGW Game Watcher. Then nothing happens, the game doesn't load, and the HGW Game Watcher is still there. The white box-like-thing stays on the screen until I press the 'x' button at the top right.
I then tried load the game through the Program Files (x86) and clicked on the exe file for CF. The game loaded to the log in screen then a pop up came up saying "Failed to connect to the server" when I am clearly connected to the internet.
Fixes please?
