Lower FPS in windows 10?

I recently upgraded to Windows 10. I also recently upgraded from 2GB of Ram to 8 GB of ram. My fps has dropped. It sometimes goes all the way down to 17 fps, but on average I have a 51 fps- but around 70 fps with lower resolution. I used to get 100+ fps in Windows 7. I thought that my new ram sticks were defective, but even when I use the old ones, I have the same problem. Also what happened to CF starting full screen? Thanks.

  • which graphic card do you have ?

Try turning on virtual sync. and update you gpu's driver..if this doesn't help you can lower the in game settings and also disable the 'save replay' option in misc settings, that will increase your fps.

If you want to play in windows mode you can change it in settings, the updated windows mode in previous patch and it is little bugged.

Hello. Thanks for replying. On an unrelated note, I just realized that I asked this under my cousin's account.

But here are my specs: http://i.imgur.com/ZwLvuIr.png

I'm running the game at the lowest settings possible. 16-bit, weather effects off etc... I'll try turning off save replay and see what happens. Also, what is virtual synch?

My fps still hasn't changed after the GPU driver's update, but that update fixed another big thing. My fan isn't as loud anymore. The save replay was off. I will wait for tonight's update and see what's fixed. Thanks.
  • The picture with your specs doesn't show your GPU. Use GPU Z. Or run dxdiag, head to the "display" tab then screen it. Also vsync is not the problem here because it locks the frame rate and not let it jump all the way from 14 to 70 and vice versa.
  • Sorry i was busy that's why i couldn't guide you and did the problem got fixed or you are still facing this problem ?
  • hey man, I have the same problem with windows 10 and also Cf starts always windowed (but in the setting "full-screen" is on). Before I had 150-200 fps, now 80-90. I read on web that it's probably a problem of Directx11 or 12, maybe Crossfire needs Directx9 but I don't know how to do the downgrade.

so I assumed that you bought that HP Desktop from a store around 2-3 years ago. So here is the problem I tested. For Windows 8 and 8.1, CPU is mostly around idle load only use around 3 cores max (your CPU has quad-cores physical) and while the 4th cores is mostly doesn't run at all. Here come the beautiful Windows 10, better everything so of course it takes more power. Your computer simply is not strong enough to handle Windows 10 in the background as well as the CF.
P/S: Idk how you get CF to run on Win 10 but it doesn't supports to most Win 10 users have reported the issues. (***Surprise***)
  • my fps didnt change, i still get over 200-300 fps. But my screen resolution is so bad. You cant dream it. Never hit it 100% height and width -.-
