(Crossfire Patcher v6) Failed to download version.ini
Hi!
This I'm sure is a known/dated error, so I apologize before hand if this thread appears to be a bit irritating because of it. I installed and reinstalled Crossfire several times with and without my firewall/av off, as well as in Safe Mode without success. I've also cleared my cache and refreshed my dns before reinstalling. I've also tried changing the 'Run with compatibility' settings with the .exe file and patchers, without success. A thing to note though that I haven't seen in any other thread is that when I install it and I go to the version.ini file, it doesn't look like it as the right layout? The layout is supposed to be a list, right? Listing the [VERSION], [DOWNLOAD], etc. Mine however looks like code, with various < >'s and what nots. I've also checked my Firewall to allow the programs through it.
It's been a really long time (~4/5 years) since I've played CF and I've a bit of an urge to play again after watching YouTube videos.
Any help would be very much appreciated,
Thanks!

Ive got the same problem. I get an error/failed to download when trying to download the latest patch as of 8/6/15
Ugh. Losing my urge to play again. At least I know I'm not alone with a problem that's been existent since CF opened x`D. -
The current Crossfire Patcher is v10.
I suggest that you uninstall CrossFire and then delete the Z8Games folder and re-download CrossFire again. Hopefully, that will fix the problem.
P.S. If you uninstall CrossFire, it doesn't delete your version.ini file. You have manually delete it. -
Thank you for responding.
The version.ini error is now fixed, but I now have an Xtrap error with the message saying it's either unstable or it couldn't properly start/update. I've tried deleting the folder (both HWGC and Xtrap) so that the launcher can reinstall those contents, and I've also messed with my firewall/av settings.
No luck. :C -
I have. And quick question. Whenever I reinstall the game, I keep getting Crossfire Patcher v6 instead of v10 like you said. Is Patcher v10 uploaded anywhere directly?
When I go to the official download page, the file I download is Crossfire_NA, which I then open to proceed into downloading Crossfire. But for some reason I keep getting Crossfire Patcher v6 instead of v10.
