That viewer count

Wow a full 400 viewers. **** this game totally isn't dead.

  • To be fair there'll be more viewers when the match is actually interesting, but yeah the games pretty dead

I mean the Chicago ignite lan had more viewers, and we only streamed the finals without any casters. And only posted on a single esea forum thread lol.
  • Was the stream advertised anywhere but on the forums? That's probably why. Ryangi you know that only a fraction of people come to these forums lol. We've gotten over 1,000 on ESG streams when cross-promoting (still obviously not comparable to the thousands on LoL or CS:GO), but just specifically speaking in regards to CF viewers.

I keep hearing this excuse everytime someone talks about this game + viewers. So I ask for the first time, why aren't you all making an effort to advertise. (z8games + league officals)
  • China just had their and they had over 50K on just one stream link. I believe there was another 15K on another.
  • Where would you like us (League officials) to advertise? Once we have our website up, obviously we go through advertising channels on our website, Facebook, etc. If I went over to ESEA forums to advertise CF, I'd probably get myself laughed from the forums. So, I'm open to hear your ideas.

The other problem is that in North America, CF is just not a big spectator sport. League of Legends, CS:GO, etc take up that space. So expecting huge amounts of viewers like that, unless there were HUGE prize pools and a larger amount of players, is kind of naive. In China, it's huge. Obviously it's going to get a pretty large following there.

I can't speak for Z8Games, so I'll just leave it at that.
  • started watching, game was so bad i went and watched ptr's stream

and that kid's a ****ing nerd

Wait... when did ESG ever get 1k views?
  • When we cross-promoted with the CF LA community / forums. Lots of Famous and Brando fans down there and they were playing. We were up at like 1,500 viewers. Granted not a lot of them spoke English, but whatever.

  • I deleted it because you linked to a site that doesn't need to be on here. Nothing more. Move along please. No need for unnecessary insults.

This guy gets more attention than this game ever will. Better?

Unnecessary insults? You must be mistaken, I'm being a realist about things with you in a harsh way.

Why compare it to LoL viewers? Obviously it will have a lot more. He mentioned CS, not LoL.

WCA 2014 is the 1st time I've looked to see how many viewers there were overall after gathering information from CrossfireChinese (Chen) and looking at how many there were on twitch and sht, at it's peak during the finals, there were over 560,000 watching. More watch during CFPL seasons than that, but I was still sorta surprised to find out that that many Chinese players care to watch the International Tourneys when they aren't as respected as CFPL and sht. Compare that to CSGO and it's not that huge of a gap. If you took the drops outta the majors in CSGO, you would see a rather drastic drop off in the viewership, and relatively big tournaments that don't have drops (ESEA with 70k for 1st place and sht) only get like, idk, 250k viewers? The respect for ESEA's tournament compared to the majors is similar to the Internationals compared to CFPL finals. Also inquired as to what the peak is for Chinese players and he said during the weekdays they hit about 6mil and during weekends about 10mil. CF is still poppin' in Asian countries and Brazil, but ofc twitch viewership is going to be low af. Only EU and NA use twitch... Brazil mostly moved on to Azubu because a lot of the BR Pros stream there.
