Do NOT Play SPL
my team (GreenDragons) placed first in the SPL first tournament. We haven't got a zp and been promised for the next day like 3 times in a row.
Finally the admin wrote me a long message about his family and him are in such a budget
Final saying, you won't get your prize.
You don't get anything from this.
No T-shirt or the 10kzp per player.
Waste of time.

It was a tournament for an online game. You also have to keep in mind that it was his first tournament after having only played CF for a few weeks. I remember my first tournament didn't even offer a prize lol. It was randomly thrown together just for the lols.
Tbh nowadays tournaments for CF are competitions for experience and playing time, not so much for making money. I know people will quote me for this and talk about how bad I am for saying that but, is $30 from ESL getting you anywhere? Have you even won $30 from ESL before? No hate to the hard working guys at both ESG and ESL but if you are looking to make big buck from online games as a participant, you are pretty desperate. If you want to make big buck from CF, get good and start training for cfstars and prepare to win it. lol
I actually talked to whatever his name is (we'll call him SPleague since that's his forum name) earlier on xfire. He told me that the t-shirt provider withdrew out of that offer because of a disagreement during the launch tournament. Now is that true? I have no clue, I can't confirm it. I said that ZP could be an option since it's convenient game currency - easy purchase and delivery. Well? Maybe he is a bit economically staggered, but still that is not a reason to hate him for it. Again, participate at your own risk and will; nobody is forcing you to play (if you don't want to play). -
Willing to bet it be his last tourney he runs too if this is the case. People should been informed w/o having to find out after its been played. Sucks cuz it seemed like it had potential at 1st but after last few days of negative comments towards it well.........gg

People weren't being negative for no reason (not including the old competitive players that just bash everything). There were some flaws. -

Oh no I 100% agreed with what i read lately. I'd be pizzed with the unorganization, admins being unsure exactly what the rules were, prizes being withheld, etc. I've never ran a so called tourney but ran plenty of in clan events thru the years and everytime I made sure if I promised a prize that said prize was paid on the spot. Had potential but maybe next time plan it out a bit better. -

This being an online game has nothing to do with how he conned the players. You are putting youself in his shoes by saying he's economically staggered but that does not justify him wasting people's time. Time is money, if you don't have the money to host something then don't host it. It is the same deal with parties. You promised beer and strippers and when people show up and get nothing but a circle jerk? Some people literally pushed away their plans for this, yeah zp does not really get you anywhere but some people simply want zp items without wanting to pay for it. There is no justification for him to not payout to the tournament owners and he should honestly be boycotted until the prizes are given out. -

Well so maybe instead of bashing him for not offering prizes, let's work on providing constructive criticism on how he can improve things in the future? Maybe work on board ESL instead of on his own and start learning from there? Overall it is his decision and certainly ESL's decision as an organization as well.
I just want to say that nobody's perfect at doing something. Difficult to admit that at times but you can't expect pure perfection out of someone who has recently hopped into the scene. I would at least give him credit for being an enthusiast and WANTING to do something for the community. And remember what "we" discussed about community attitudes and willingness? Yeah, here's someone who is WILLING to do something, yet the community bashes him for not paying up?
There are talks on other threads about this (ESL's rule change thread for example) and it's best we focus on that instead.
Edit: Lol I can't force him to give anything. If he can't give anything, what can I do? I'm not defending him for not paying up but it was never promised in the first place, as far as I'm aware.
I don't see how I'm putting myself in his shoes on this one. That's what he told me (as you see in the screenshot too).
I get what you're saying about resources and payout/promises. But let's not forget that this goes back to the basic theme of participating in things at your own risk and will.
