  • They use laptops and stock PCs like every other office, probably a wider range of AMD vs. Intel and such comparisons for testing.
It doesn't take much to run CF.

If you're talking about the servers, you won't get an answer (from me), I doubt the GMs know either.

Wow .. do they use laptops by smilegate ?
i mean that SG made the laptops ? :)
like the pcs in CF-S !
  • Why would Smilegate, a software developer, also develop and manufacture entirely new computers to test their game - a game that can be run on my $300 Dell laptop?

I suppose there might be a Smilegate sticker on them, if that helps you..

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.. so why are you asking?

Theres no value in itself to create a thread.

Every PC can be a server, not all servers are necessarily PCs.

The Crossfire servers are actual servers, in a datacenter.
From which one can't deduce much more than they're either 1U or 2U, a standardized measurement of physical size for servers in a server rack arrangement.

Smilegate has nothing to do with the physical servers - they pay for access to the servers, install their software remotely, call the datacenter if there is a problem with a server, upload patches remotely.
I doubt SG themselves, aside from maybe a technician, know the technical specifications of their servers. It's not very important. They're sort of time-tested, we know the specifications are sufficient because the servers have been up and running for.. 6 years.

    your knowledge is good!
you know many things about PCs / Online games!
i gonna design signature for you :)
  • No, that was Wikipedia (didn't know what a rack unit was called except rack unit) and very basic knowledge.
We know Juicebox doesn't hop on a private plane to Germany every time there is a problem with our UK servers, so we can assume there are technicians on site dealing with server issues. Most people know how datacenters work.

    I don't use image signatures, they're distracting.

Moderators don't work in the Smilegate office.
We work from home, though granted your home might be your office.

You need to be a good forumer before you can be considered becoming a good moderator.
Practice good quality - not quantity - in your posts, and practice English.
Comma is never preceded by a space, the first letter after a punctuation mark is capitalized. You know, the basics, but that's not exactly what we mean with good English.
Sentence structure is more important than putting a comma in the right place.
I often forego proper punctuation and capitalization, but knowing where it SHOULD go is important for putting together sentences that people can read and be helped from.
And that is our job more than anything, helping people. We forget that too often though.

Follow the simple rules and you won't get banned, we already know who you're, it's never late to do a new start, but it's not easy though. Shcool or being inactive won't destroy what you've done... and I'm sure they won't search for inactive MODs, good luck anyway.

    Even reading it is frustrating.
You take your time to write an elaborated reply, and it just bounces off of them.
I rather gave up reasoning with these kind of people. I guess there is no need to mention names.
