computer broken any clue?

So my computer just wigged out on me and now well no display. Before i shut it down all there was, was lines across the top half of the screen all different colors and couldnt make it do anything. I tried hooking up my video card instead of using the on board video and now nothing is coming up. Any clue what broke?

If you have tried another g/gard, then i think it might be 1 of two thing's , mother board or ram/memory , also try another hard drive just in case

could you post your rig spec's ?

I switched to a vid card and nothing was displaying and its just a regular hp i bought few years back. i cant even think of the specs anymore its been so long.
