144 hz monitor

Right now I have a 59 hz monitor and plan on upgrading to 144

For those who have them what major differences can I expect if any? (Only worried about crossfire no other games)

    good one :)
  • You will see things faster than someone would on, lets say, a 60hz monitor. The monitor generates the image faster, therefore, giving you a slight advantage.

Though most people say it's no difference, I've notice a GREAT difference when I got my 144hz monitor switching from a 60hz. hmu on CF sometime toonie.

    really? wow:P
  • Donny was a lonely child back in the day. He had no friends due to his disfigurement and mental ******ation. Due to Donny's lack of friends he was very sad and only found comfort when riding his 3 wheel tricycle. It wasn't the best tricycle since it had a wobbly wheel yet he loved his tricycle so very much. Donny would take his tricycle to the steepest hill he knew and ride down as fast as he could go.

One day Donny was riding down the road and saw a Kawasaki Ninja H2 street bike which is known to be the fastest bikes in the worlds. Donny knew he shouldnt ride it but his curious urges got the better of him. Donny carefully sat onto the bike, lifted the stand, and gave the throttle a real big twist. The acceleration he felt was like nothing he ever experienced before. As he sped down the road at a high rate, Donny felt so much joy everything around him went by in a flash. Within a few seconds he was already going over 100mph, but Donny didnt care, he was enjoying every last second.

Fudge that old tricycle, Donny said. The speeds that Donny was going wasnt even safe for even the most experienced drivers. Up ahead there was a sharp turn in the road but Donny doesnt notice it in time. Going over 180mph he crashes through the guardrail. The bike exploding into hundreds of pieces. Donny goes flying through the air before being slammed into the ground and breaking most of the bones in his body.

I hope this gives you enough advice.

he's the only one that doesnt fee the difference, he probably unknowingly changed his settings to 60hz, and saying their is no difference

    r u ok ?
  • it won't just innately make you better, all increasing your refresh rate does is makes things look smoother/less choppy
  • r u ok ?

please don't bully me on an internet forum :(:(

hey mate u betta stop it
  • In all honesty, it will feel so much smoother to the point where 59hz feels like 60 fps. If you are getting one it will make you so much better instantly so I would play with 144hz right before CFS. You will play like a legend!
  • As long as you have a constant +144 fps it's worth it

Won't make you 100x better but it'll be much more enjoyable to play on and it'll help with some small stuff
  • What makes me want to get this monitor is two things

    People claim that:

    1) people move slower
Problem: some say this is true some say it isn't

    2) 59 hz isn't smooth while the 144hz is
Problem: 59 hz to me is already smooth and I don't ever experience the choppy look people say there is

Sorry if I'm repetitive with my complaints but I don't wanna waste money
  • Probably depends on eyes and physical stuff like that.

Other than that, you should see a difference.
Your 59Hz screen only shows 59 FPS, bottleneck for your fancy GPU.
Haven't gotten around to buying a 144 yet but definitely will.
Wasting good hardware on an awful monitor.

It's impossible to just make people move slower out of nowhere, the only thing that affects movement speed is ping (the higher the slower), higher refresh rate simply means it will look smoother
If you have the money it's not a waste, if you are scrounging for money to buy a 144hz monitor solely to be a better crossfire player, you're wasting a lot of cash
59 hz on a monitor that maxes at 59 hz shouldn't look choppy, it's just that anything below 120hz on a 120hz monitor will.

It's like buying a new chair, right now you have a wooden one and you want a leather chair, you can buy a nice new one for a lot of money, but it won't make you better, just more comfortable.
On a side note, cfs uses 60hz iirc
  • Who remembers Carnage and Lifeline bringing their 120 - 144hz monitors to FG LAN?

logic tryna keep his competition at a disadvantage low key. buy the monitor it will make the game feel so much better thus making you improve.

Since when does a chair make you better anyway? I thought the mainpoint of buying a chair is because it is comfortable. Who buys a chair to make themselves better WT.F!

It can certainly be part of it..

Someone who sits on some plastic folding chair will adjust his position constantly, strain his shoulder and elbow because he doesn't have an arm rest, sit too low or too high, cut bloodflow to the legs.. stuff like that.
You're playing, people adjust. But you're focusing on things you shouldn't be focusing on, like rolling your shoulders once a minute.

You're probably buying a chair to be more comfortable, but it CAN and I dare say most often will improve your gaming, if you're switching from lawn chair to good chair.

Meh, from monitors to lawn chairs. Awful mod.

it's a piece of equipment you fool, it can't innate make you smarter or better at aiming, more hz is a luxury, a comfort thing, who pays $300-$700 for a monitor to attempt to make themselves better at cf rofl
