If you want protection on your computer from preventing a virus to infect your computer I would recommend you try out Avast anti virus. This one is the best of the 'free' anti-virus programs. If you're seeking for a 'lighter' anti-virus you should get Microsoft Security Essentials.

However, if you're seeking to remove a virus from a infected computer you might want to use different programs. Running a few programs every now and then that I recommend are 'Spy-bot search & destroy, malwarebytes anti-malware, Eraremover and Hitman Pro'.

If you want your computer to keep running smooth I recommend you do the above every now and then when your computer gets slow. And also get CCleaner.
