Running CF under Linux/in Wine?

Hi, I recently switched to Linux because it runs a lot better on my laptop and actually all the Windows programs run a LOT better with it under Wine (Fl Studio almost never has any problems while running under Wine, however used to be very slow when I was running it on the same machine in Windows 8). So today, I installed Half-Life on my laptop and ran it with Wine and it runs pretty much perfect, just with a few main menu bugs, but nothing too serious and it's 100% playable, I'm already through the game 40%. So my question is, will there be a day that CF will run under Wine? To my knowledge, X-trap wouldn't let CF start because of some error, but I don't think it's impossible for z8 to tweak it so Wine is recognized and allowed in X-trap?

I personally think this will attract thousands of players as not all are able to afford Windows and some just prefer Linux over Windows.

Thoughts, comments??

  • I also agree with you too that it should be put into the exceptions for Xtrap. But currently there's no easy fix for running CF on a Linux dist. The best solution is probably for you to dual boot your computer with a Windows OS.

EDIT: If your computer initially ran on a Windows OS, it shouldn't be too hard to set up a dual boot with Linux.
