Bugs when trying to alt-tab?

Every time I try to alt tab, my task bar comes up like normal but all the other windows won't open. I have Windows 8.1 with more than enough power to play this game, I have never had any issues alt tabbing until recently. I have tried uninstalling the game several times, cleaning my registry and using ccleaner as well. The programs I try to alt tab to are normally Google chrome or Skype or something. I got it working once after updating windows but then the problem reoccurred a bit later that night.

My computer > Properties > Advanced Settings > 'Advanced tab' under performance: settings > advanced > Processor scheduling select Background services.

I tried, didn't work out. I think it's a problem with the game itself now.
