God, it's good to be the King

Hey, CrossFire people,

I just felt like updating you on how amazing my life is.

1. I speak 3 languages already (Spanish, English, and ASL), and I'm learning my fourth currently (German).
2. I've been sky-diving twice now.
3. I've been SCUBA diving three times, now.
4. I placed 2nd in a national martial arts competition (I was young though, so it probably doesn't count).
5. I've been sailing in the Mediterranean.
6. I've ran a marathon (considering training for a triathlon after CF is over)
7. I've maintained a 4.0 GPA while double majoring through university, in maths and English.
8. I'm better-read than many of you will ever hope to be.
9. I have perfect health.
10. Starting thus Summer, I'll be working a job making 70K a year. That's not too much, but I live in Indiana, where 30K a year is middle class.
11. I have a Masters title in chess.

So, that aspect is going pretty great!

  • Good for you, man! And please don't read that in a sarcastic tone of voice. It's not meant to be. You've done good in your life so far, and that's worth something.

As for all you haters, the only reason I can see for you trying to put him down is jealousy.

irman, I don't know which women has wronged you, but I hope you don't really believe that. At the very least because it's not at all true.

I'm at a 2.1 GPA with a double major in mech. engineering and german. I applaud your 4.0
I too have gone sailing and swimming in the Mediterranean, and I encourage everyone who has it within their means to go to travel there.

As far as you being "the King", the only king I know of is my Lord and savior Jesus Christ :)
  • Nicely done! For the people talking about how he's never been to international lans really need to understand what they're saying :).

Don't brag about it and keep it to yourself.

i am not even talking about bonuses and my commission, i get paid 40 an hour base salary guaranteed just showing up to work every day, i have nothing special about me to do this job, you are talking about the 1% of people that get popular on the interwebs, there are millions of failures out there, you have a way better chance becoming somebody like me than somebody like this sodapoppin, and i am not even going over my personal real estate that bring in a steady cash flow regardless of my job. we will see where this guy is in 10 years and then we can look at where i will be in 10 years, i guarantee this soda guy will be working at one of my hotels.

Hmm you seem a little hurt, for one, that post's context clearly was comparing people who play games for money versus someone who puts the same amount of time into education and a professional career outside of gaming. I clearly stated that there was nothing special about me and that basically you have a better chance of doing what I do than becoming a professional gamer. Yeah sure, you can take things out of context and to try to troll but for someone like yourself who went to one of the best areas for k-12 education, your comprehension skills lack. That certainty wasn't an attempt to boost myself over the internet when I clearly downplayed my success..

please, dont brag about school, anyone with a brain knows that your school marks rarely transfer over to anything relevant in the real world, i mean, you will have to write an essay and do advanced math calculations every week?

    math, maybe

I lost 100k in bonus. Company cut our bonus by more than 75% per day :(. Then again with the blood bath in oil and gas right now I should be glad I have a job at least until late spring :/

I was thinking Ann arbor since it wouldn't be too long of a commute. Their Tauber institute of operations aligns with my ideal career path.

Also I'll be in Detroit Friday/Saturday of next week for NAIAS if your down for some drinks Friday night.
  • I'm sure there's other options out there, but that was just what I had in mind. Right now I'm just working on getting the money put away.

You give me the same impression that those college kids/ young grads who call themselves "bros" and wear backwards flat-rimmed hats give me.

"do more drugs"? I hope you realize sooner than later that anything out there is only stopping you from being really happy.

I like to think that terms like nerd/geek were made by men of smaller intelligence to belittle the achievements of their more talented brothers and sisters.
