SFG Character Lost Flash Protection

I was wondering if anyone else is expieriencing this problem...

I have the SFG Flash Character (a drop from the ZM slaughter tickets)
It is suppose to have PERMANENT Flash Protection, without flash goggles being equiped. (SKILLED Character, imbedded flash protection).

It worked fine when I 1st received the character. (I did not have to equip flash goggles and I had flash protection), Now the flash protection does not work. It stopped working after the November patch. I thought it would be fixed with the December patch but it did not.

There are no screen shots available as when you get flashed (without flash protection) it "blind's" you for approx 3 seconds and sound is disrupted during that time as well. When flash googles are equiped that flash lasts about one second, (the flash goggles decrease the effect time).

With the SFG Character in the begining when I received it there was NO "blinding" flash, when a flash grenade was thrown (team flash or enemy flash) you could here the "pop" of the flash grenade from the enemy or the radio call from the team but it had not effect the SFG Character.

It does not work any longer, (since the November patch) I have to equip flash guard glasses now which i should not have to do because the "Skill" of this character is the immunity to flash grenades.

Edit: Not that system info would matter as I use 3 different PC's and all have the same problem...

  • I am have it as well but I use it with the flash protection goggles. It barely keeps me flashed ( 1 sec or so ) but I never tried to use the char just by itself. Might do a comparasion with a normal char, SFG and SFG + goggles
  • I just tested it on NA1 and NA4 and my SFG-Flash works fine, I did not test it on the UK servers but I don't think there'd be a difference. As well the SFG-ZM's adrenaline gauge ability still appears to work properly.

Looking directly at a flash grenade thrown about five feet away:
OMOH character no flash goggles is fully blind for about 4 seconds
SFG-Flash no flash goggles is fully blind for about 2.5 seconds
OMOH character with flash goggles is fully blind for about 2 seconds
SFG-Flash with flash goggles is fully blind for a little over 1 second

There's a bug that can happen if you switch characters while the servers are lagging, in your inventory it will show that you have a particular character equipped but if you go into a game you'll be the character that you had equipped previous to the one your inventory says you now have equipped. Sometimes it will even show the new character's icon/health gauge in the bottom left but you'll see the previously equipped character's hands. If you were switching between the two SFG characters you would never notice, and this bug doesn't fix itself by logging out and back in, you have to go manually switch between characters again to fix it.

I should note that I didn't get the Flash character until like a month after it was released in this version, so if the Flash ability was stronger when it was originally released I wouldn't have experienced a reduction/nerf in the ability. But the ability seems the same today as when I originally got the character on July 13, 2013. The July patch was a few days later I believe so if the ability was nerfed it must've been in June's part 2 patch.

Thank you for the info I will try the switching/equiping of the character. Seems you have had the SFG Flash a lot longer than I as I received it in October 2014. Maybe it was a glitch when I got it and the glitch was fixed, but originally when I 1st used it there was no blinding at all when flashed, (just sound deaf for a little over a second) Thats when I was equiping added xp glasses etc, (still had flash protection even with other glasses/goggles equiped).

I will update/edit once I have a chance to try some of the steps you listed. I dont think I ever changed the character after I received it but I have swapped/lost glasses on it and maybe there lies the problem. I did notice that when the Devestated city goggles ran out, the character did not even get the original sun glasses back. (the glasses that look like the 5 star rank aviator wire frame glasses), that too could be part of the problem. What concerns me is that your experience with the character (since you had it over a year) was that SFG-Flash without flash goggles equiped you were only blinded about 2 and half seconds..... as with me I was never blinded at all.

    Thanks again!
  • Ok I heard back from the developers and Mods, Appearantly the way the SFG Flash character is suppose to work is just the voyager40 states in the above reply.

The flash does not last as long on this character but still gets blinded for a shorter time..... somehow i never got the effect of blinding and then it started properly working... note: I liked better when it was bugged lol. :D
