More game modes?

Why not have some respawn game modes included in competitive play? SnD by itself gets really boring to watch. Why not include other game modes like escape mode? I think it would be more fun to watch and play. Gives viewers something different instead of the same thing over and over. And lets players practice more game modes.

Yeah but still, i think that an org should include some more game modes. People can still play SnD but for tourneys or lans here in the US it would be cool to include other modes. Just more fun to watch.

^^^ Would be nice if we used a similar format to china with the TDM, EM, and SnD thing they do for lower tier tournaments. But eh. Still fun playing SnD only.
  • Yeah i was thinking of a best of 5. TDM, SND, ESCAPE, TDM, SND. Or what other game modes. I think escape would be fun to watch.
  • S&D is the best mode to measure teamwork. The only other mode that heavily depends on teamwork is GM, but it is too far from other modes/it doesn't have a big enough competitive side. Though this is only my opinion.

And SND would still be played. Other game modes like escape would take a good amount of teamwork because they have to attack together and defend together. TDM even has some teamwork involved. I'm hoping for another respawn mode that would allow for competitive play.

Its just that only watching SND gets extremely boring and doesn't allow for comp to grow.

It would be silly to practice a different game mode, especially one like Escape Mode or Ghost Mode. Your goal online is to practice for LANs. Your goal on LAN is to practice for National LANs. Your goal in National LANs is to practice for International LANs, which only contain Search and Destroy. Your goal at an International LAN is to win. You won't win if you're a good GM player, so why practice being one? It will only negatively affect you to learn how to play new modes as opposed to perfecting the ones that matter.
  • I think personally that elimination would be a good add to the competitive scene.

Eh, I don't agree with this. When I played, my goal wasn't to practice for LANs. It was to practice for the sake of self-improvement. Maybe that's just me, but I think it's a valid school of thought.

As for the OP, I've promoted Escape Mode a few times, and we've gotten some decent scrims out of it, but it's a mode that needs to have a precise set of rules to really be fun, and it never really caught on in the community.
  • if we had a mode like hardpoint or even ctf would be cool. i think how fast cf action is respawn game play would push it over the edge.

People can still practice SND and perfect it but we need tourneys here that involve other modes. You can be a good GM players and an SND player.

I think in order for competitive to grow, we need modes that people enjoy playing, and a lot of people enjoy playing modes that aren't SND. With only SND we are pushing away most of the community. I understand that internationals are the biggest thing, and people can still practice for this, but over here we need tournaments that include new modes.

Agreed. Those modes are very fun to play and require a lot of teamwork. I just hope that we get a mode that is similar to one of those.
