When the error pops up press the print screen button above the delete and insert buttons on the keyboard. Then open microsoft paint and press ctrl and v together. Ensure the image contains no sensitive information such as login id's, if it does use the paint tools to cover it up. Next ensure the dimensions of the image do not exceed 800 pixels for either horizontal or vertical so it doesn't stretch the forum borders when you post it here on the forums. In microsoft paint click on the resize button, and in the pop-up window select the "resize, by: pixels" option, if either dimension exceeds 800 pixels set the highest one to 800 pixels. Then save the image in a place that's easy to find. Next go to an image-hosting website and upload the image, I personally use imgur.com. Most of those sites will give you a link surrounded by [img][/img] code to post on forums. With imgur once the picture is uploaded they present you with a preview page for it, click on the image to go directly to the image url, copy and paste that url into your forum post and put after it.
Yes its really has to do with Direct 9, but the thing is I don't know how to fix it because if I do something on that file it might cause something on pc on which my pc might not function properly. and thank you for helping me how to post an image -

Are you sure its DirectX 9? because everything was fine yesterday but when I shutdown my laptop, it automatically installed a windows update and I started getting this exact same problem. -
Solution
Found out the solution for this problem.
08-0400-00000000-544 is an error caused by a certain update from windows update.
"Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3000850)" Name may vary for other windows.
go check your recent windows update history and see the date of an update that matches the day you are having this error.
you have to uninstall that update.
This solution fixed this error and can play CF without having that error anymore.
