finally dead?

I have little hope for a serious answer, but I'm kind of curious.
"The game is dying" is usually spouted out by pubstars who actually have to face cheaters on a constant basis, but I can't imagine that being an equally annoying issue for competitive players, save for warmups but those can be done privately too.
So I wonder what you think this game is 'finally dead' in a competitive sense because of.
I imagine it's a combination of some factors; privatization (too many leagues, championships and what have you), maturing (playing less because life) and new games (or old like LoL).
I take it the third is the most prevalent, but that too needs some basis in the sense that they have something CF doesn't, my guess would be an already established scene and infrastructure while CF puts some pressure on you to be that scene and build that infrastructure.
I don't mean to be rude but switching from CF to play in $1000000 leagues in GO isn't a likely reason for anyone here, so I wonder what is.
disorganized post but whatever.
With "you" and "here" I mean this thread and the people who posted in it, it's pretty obvious that the competitive scene or the game itself isn't actually dead. -
Mods in denial hoping the game stays up so they can keep some sort of position of power on the internet.
Game is dead and dying (in comp) because SmileGate and the other companies tied Z8 Games hands and disabled them to take any sort of action to save this version. The only pulse left for the competitive community is ESL (which I am under the impression that since Kyle gave up, it will pull out soon, I mean he was the only reason why it was running half decently) and ESG (which will run till the game officially pulls out of NA, got give Iceman and Polleus A+ for dedication).
Lastly a lot of the competitive players were like myself in the fact we started playing in 08-12 and stuck with the game because we had spent enough time to be proficient at it and grew in a community (full of hate, but still a community). Now we either have lives or moved on. The new generation for CF 13/14 has a larger selection of more successful FPS games and I don't think we as a community have been good at receiving new players. Now that the old has moved on, no new has come in, and for good reasons.
I am sure the pub version can live in a vegetated state, but I mean lets be real, a smaller and smaller population of that every month is NA. -

I agree with all of that, especially about how old players moved on and not enough new players to take their place. -

I don't think Dot is the kind of person who would outright deny the death of a game for forum power. I think it's more of the fact that the game holds some sort of nostalgia factor if anything. Anyways, the game isn't "dead" per se. The game still has room to grow, and a small hiatus won't stop a popular game like this. I hate to admit it, but this game actually has potential. I'm sure people will come flocking back, and all it would take is some trash talk. That being said, Coda is a f@ggit!
Edit: I remember fall of 09 being more "dead" than this. 4 competitive teams, and only one of them knew how to always win.
