I'm awful at #1, but sizeable savings, not living paycheck to paycheck and residing in a well-developed social security country means it's not a matter of life and death if I lose my job.
Of course I could and should spend more time on the market for an investment fallback, but I cba.

meh i was taught at a young age, 40% invest 30% expense 20% leisure 10% charity, for me, market trading was short term, i moved from the market after i received enough capital, to real estate, bought homes after the housing crisis for dirt cheap, restored and rented them out, then i moved into starting a business after i had a steady income coming from rental properties
