Before you install, completely get rid of any Crossfire data. Uninstall, delete any leftover folders after the uninstall, like documents/crossfire ( or just do a Start button - search - input crossfire -delete anything relative to crossfire)
When you install, Let it go through all the patching.
It's a little bit of a wait but should still work. -

Have you gone through Windows Updates lately?
also try: Right clicking your desktop, select properties, click Advanced, select the Troubleshoot tab, toggle hardware acceleration.
