ESG News is back with our new, weekly installation of CrossFire coverage!

Last week marked the launch of E-Sports Genesis' own Factions Under Fire!

This event, detailed here, is CrossFire NA/UK's first qualifier for the CrossFire Stars event held this Fall. The top 3 teams from this event will advance to the next stage of the CFS qualifier, in addition to receiving portions of a 3,000USD prize pool. Not to be outdone by other events, Factions Under Fire offers more than 600,000ZP in prizes to the other top 8 teams.

The layout of this event is done in a league format, with teams being parsed into two divisions: Alpha, and Bravo. The top 4 teams from each division will then advance into a double-elimination 8-man bracket.

Looking at each division, there are clear favorites and potential dark-horse candidates already emerging:

In the Alpha Division, Ace Gaming, Fly Society, and FragStarsX lie as clear superiors to their counterparts, leaving teams such as she got sprinkles, ALLSTARS, and ABC to battle for the coveted 4th spot.

However, With a sure sigh of relief from each of those three teams, Fly Society seems to be withdrawing from the competition, as they have taken a DQ in each of their first 3 games. An additional surprise is Ace Gaming's loss to team ABC, who demolished them in a 14-3 victory on Ceyhan.

In the Bravo Division, there are only 2 teams who are the clear favorites: Jeden, and !nstinct. This, coupled with a host of active teams, leaves the last two spots up for grabs by Bio and Prime, both of who are currently top 8 in ESL standings.

Yet even this division has had its surprises. !nstinct faced a near loss to Bio, winning the map by a single point, 9 rounds to 8.

Jeden faced a similar situation, narrowly beating WelFare 12 points to 8.

With 6 weeks to go, and already some intense games and upsets, Factions Under Fire already promises an interesting qualifier.
