Fail to download patch files

I keep getting: Cannot find file needed for patch
I have uninstalled and re-installed and get the same error.
This blows since I only play on weekends and there goes my time.
It is either a server connection issue, hack tool detected when there aren't any or this error about the patch.
Kept trying as suggested but seems to stop at same place. -
@stane031
Sorry i made you repeat yourself.
I failed to mention i had rebooted several times (4 times to be exact).
I just gave up.
I will try maybe this afternoon or tomorrow again since I know it is not my PC.
Thanks for the reply.
Edit: error

Go into REZ folder and delete RF017.REZ and it'll auto download a new fresh REZ for you. -
Funny thing...I just came to update on the same thing you wrote...lol
I was doing that but it kept giving error.
I then noticed in the: C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\backup\1173 the cab file last
downloaded would increas a bit in size. I copied a few of the already downleded .rez files into the temp/rez folder and just kept starting it up again after it errored out.
Still doing it for about the 20th time and still giving error but files are increasing in size. Hopefully one they all download it will install....not there yet....
Thanks Starburst]!!
Update:
Well I have reached my end. After numerous starts and failes all the files seem to have downloaded to the
backup folder but now it just stays at this:
[8]21:05:14 Error! e = 3 = FILE NOT FOUND, rez\RF017.REZ, LastError 8
[8]21:05:14 PV5::ExtractPatchFile() ERROR! FDICopy failed! file [2D.cab]
No more going forward. I'm done. Must be my PC since no one else is experiancing this.
My CF days and my "Major and Captain" accounts are null...Peace out CF... -
@Starburst]
Thank you for the replay and fix
Never thought of actually looking into the game rez folder. I just kept thinking issue was in the backup folder where files where being downloaded but it now makes sense.
I had actually installed on my laptop and noticed the size difference in that .rez file and was going to just copy it over but went your way and all is good now.
Did not uninstall and re-install. I just moved the RF017.rez out of that rez folder and all went well from there.
Thank you again! You made a friend for life!
I guess that is what you originally meant when you wrote:

Stupid me did not get it that you were talking about the rez folder in:
C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez
I was still looking in the backup folder....DUH! -
Fix
Here is what worked for me as i had the same issue. Z8 games uninstaller is a lil lax on the files it leaves. i had to uninstall then manually delete the z8games folder from my Hd. after that there is another folder that holds the original instal files you must delete this and empty your recycling bin. Mine was located at C:\Users\*******\Documents under my user name.
down load a new installer and run it.
