Just ordered a monitor.
One of the newegg shell shockers today is a monitor I've had my eye on for a little while. So I ordered it this evening. It's on sale for 209.99 down from 299.99 listed.

Acer GN246HL Black 24" 1ms 144hz HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD 3D Monitor 350 cd/m2 100,000,000:1
Anyone used this before? Any thoughts about it? I'm upgrading from a 19" color CRT monitor I've had about a dozen years. Will it be capable of a 144hz refresh rate on vga? Reason I ask is that I'm utilizing a KVM switch that uses only VGA ports. Although the vid cards are dvi with vga adapters leading the cables to the KVM.
Ok. Just did some heavy research. The KVM and VGA will only support 60hz on an LCD monitor. Funny though cz I can crank it up over 85hz on this CRT with the same cables. Anyhow my old BFG 9800 vid cards have dual link dvi so that's what I'm going to be using to achieve 144hz. I'll connect the Dual link DVI plug to the game rig and monitor. Will connect the VGA kvm switch to the VGA plug on the monitor also. Should be good. Will just have to switch between video sources on the monitor when switching to a different pc via the kvm

Great if you have a computer that is capable to output 144 fps.
More frames means it's extremely smooth. Don't switch back to your old monitor.
144 Hertz is only capable on DVI and DisplayPort.
HDMI 60 Hertz max.
That's great to know. That's exactly what I'm shooting for. My old 9800's are dual link DVI capable which I read is the only way to get the 144hz using the DVI inputs. I understood that if you had just single link DVI video cards that you would only be getting 60 fps also so that really needs to be looked at and considered if anyone is trying something similar with their equipment. I just rebuilt this computer recently. New mobo, memory, cpu. Reused most everything else. Crossfire shows it's pumping out well over 200 fps in most scenarios. So I can't wait to see what it looks like on a gaming LCD from this CRT monitor I've had so long. I've heard it's like the difference between night and day. The only reason I've not ever updated this monitor was because I couldn't see getting an LCD when they only supported 60hz for so long anyhow until recently. -
Got it an hour ago. Hooked it up. It's really a lot bigger than my old crt lol. The dual link DVI at 144hz is amazing. And the good news is I plugged the kvm into the vga port and can still see my other pc's when the input button is changed to vga just as I had hoped! No dead pixels, I'm so happy

Eww Acer
Benq or Asus for 144hz
Guess you can get those if you like wobbly stands and speakers and stuff you don't need along with the dead pixels. This one is perfect. Delivery was speedy. Didn't even have to calibrate it like some of those others you mentioned! It's as smooth as my crt monitor for gaming. Not a hiccup one. The clarity is crystal clear. And it's freaking big! Crossfire in 1920x1080 high def looks fabulous. Such a pity you can't have a decent game with all the hackers however. -
Did they just update the res to 1080p? last time I remember max res for CF was 1680x1050.
Anyway I been using my Asus 23 in 120hz for over 3 years now, lol never going back to 60hz againnn. Been looking at the 29in ultra wide monitor, too bad they only running at 60hz -

I'm on my phone atm. I believe the first line of the config file for the game is changed to a 6 it puts it in the max resolution. If not the cf tool lets you change it also. I can use the tool now since I'm not using the crt monitor. I had to put the gamma on it at 1.8 and anything over 1.0 made the tool crash with the crt. All is good now!
