Well to be fair, Indy is a silly location. And I'm sure there are many other silly things that Purvis has decided to do. Yes, people want a LAN, but they want a LAN that's actually worth going to. Unless you live in Indiana, this LAN is no where near worth it. I'm pretty sure winning the LAN wouldn't cover travel costs for most people to attend.

I agree with the idea of your post, but not for this particular event. I understand that Purvis is doing this out of his pocket, and kudos to him for that, but its not worth doing if you don't do it right. The main problem with this LAN is that Purvis hasn't realized it is a waste of time yet..

I would have chosen Chicago but Indianapolis has one of the best LAN venues I have seen and is only a 3 hour drive from Chicago. Sorry I cant please everyone.

Obviously you can't please everyone, but wouldn't it have been more logical to have it in a more densely populated area? As there is a higher chance that more crossfire players would live there.

Examples of places better than Indianapolis: Everywhere.

No but seriously, the Northeast, west coast, or Florida probably would get more interest than Indy.

I think its great that you have enough 'passion' and interest in crossfire to you attempt to put these things together, but my suggestion is to leave it to someone more qualified. Someone with the means and knowledge to run it well. Anyone can organize an LAN with enough drive, few people can run it well.

We will be waiting a long time in that case. I agree with your points about the location being godawful, but I don't think you should be putting down his efforts. He ran a (in my opinion) great LAN in Toronto, and I know that my entire team had an amazing time.
I think there are definitely improvements that could be made, but telling him to give up is NOT productive or constructive in any way.

Indy is in a neutral area. If we have one on the East or West Coast then players would have to travel across NA to get there.

I understand what you are saying though.

Ehh i wouldn't call indy neutral

I wish i could afford to get there from florida, i would definitely go.

If I had found a venue in like Kansas City, New York, Atlanta , Dallas, or Los Angles I would have considered it but I didnt see anything suited our needs.

Trust me there are more qualified people that can do a hell better job than I can do, but no one else has stepped up yet.

I can promise you that this event will be more organized than the FG LAN was. The only downside is that we dont have great community supporters that donate prizes this time.

Are you sure you spelled it as Atlanta and Los Angeles instead of "Atalanta" and "Las Angles" while looking for venues?
  • But first I want to saying no good I am englash.

Perv I think much honestly you made a giganticaly huge mistake by the making the venue in a hoot city such Indianapolis, IN.

I just maked a map so simple that you for to understan.

I don't understand this community. Literally everyone *****es about this game because it never has lans, how we need lans to stop cheating and ghosting and the 1000 other problems everyone complains about.

Finally someone spends their own money to get a lan for crossfire. Everyone *****es about the prize pool, so he raises registration prices, everyone *****es about the price to enter. Then people harass purvis with things like "LOL zero teams signed up" and "We won't register until other teams do". You all complain about how no teams are signing up, so why not sign your team up already instead of *****ing about teams NOT signing up?

The next issue is, why is everyone harassing Purvis for trying to put on this event? Isn't this what the community wants? Consistent lans? No? Why is literally everyone just being 100% negative about this instead of actually trying to help make this lan successful?

End rant. This community is less intelligent then Forrest Gump's down syndrome half brother.

Exactly man!!! I don't ****ing understand it! Just try to make the LAN sucessful and stop the ****ing trolling this is exactly why we don't have **** now. People find the trolling funny and it's not.....

    Purvis,

    1st place is 60% of 2500
    = 1500 / 5 = 300 FOR EACH.

and the cheapest from Virginia to Indiana is $810 total for me round-trip + hotel + food + other stuff

so IF i were to go I'd be spending 3 times more than what 1st prize would offer

edit ; this is why most people aren't going

This is true, but at least the prize pool is going up. I know of 5-6 teams that have said they are "definitely" going (plus mine). Let's just say it is just those 6 teams (1 team signed up early at 65 rest late at 80), equals 2325$. Add that in and it's around 4825$ for the prize pool. 60% is 2895$ = 579$ a person. Idk if that's the proper pool amount and I could easily be wrong because idk how much goes toward the venue, but judging from what I've read that seems close enough. Not saying it's "worth it" for you, just pointing out that it climbs quickly with the more teams that go.

Most people don't attend community lans to make a profit, they go for the experience.

People have different reasons. Personally, I'm mainly going for the fun of going. If we win that just adds some whipped cream on the top of my CF cake. Mainly going to have some fun doe.
