Easy way to spot wallers...the flash test

One of the most fool proof ways to spot a wall hacker is to flash them with a well placed flash. Flash goggles still get flashed for around 1.5 seconds if the flash is placed well. If your flash landed right in front of the player and they immediately turn, shoot and correctively aim, there is a chance they are using wall hack.

I generally flash the players who appear to be pre-firing corners a lot and showing general wall hacker trade marks.

Of course there is never a 100% way to tell, just some probabilities that add up.

I've been saying, "They red boxed me when flashed" but I now know that "red box" is outdated. Anyone who wants to know how to successfully spot and kick a hack only has to go to a video sharing website and watch the hackers there to see what you are up against. They use to use a red box around the players that they could see through walls. Now they have a new one that basically has a laser line from you to the rest of the players.

Basically, if you flash them, they will see all white but they can still use either red box or the laser line to the colored body that wall hackers see.

One scenario recently. I tossed a flash in the middle of 6 players, one of them I thought was showing signs of wall hack before. 5 players crouched down and walked to walls for cover, obviously blind. The wall hack walked right through it and correctively aim shot me.

Good luck keeping the hacks kicked everyone. It's clearly up to the players.

  • Or, you can just shoulder peek corners and watch them prefire
  • Keep in mind that even if you are flashed you can still shoot while being blinded. So while flashing players is a good indicator, it's not entirely reliable. I could of course just repeatedly flash my teammates too :D
  • OR you can observe them if the are in your team and you will see them doing things which wallers do...

TRUE... but not every one in game believe's someone who spots the hack imminently and tries to warn others... they only believe when it happens to them... BUT NICE SUGGESTION
  • My friend made a new account and told me that in rokiee server 90 percent of players were hacks....

Question is can z8games.com stop new account registeration for some time and in the meantime GM's come ingame and block all existing hackers permanently... once blocked the hackers wont be able 2 make new account for a while which will be frustrating. ..and probably discourage others from using haks...

    Really ?

Good tip but lets work this out as experienced players shall we?

First of all i know that if you run from spawn to A bomb site it takes *x* amount of minutes/sec's give or take. I know that if i head to A Bomb site from my spawn we should meet around *Y* location on the map. OH i heard you reload round this corner i will prefire it.... KICKED for being an *Obvious* Waller.... That seems fair...

Experienced players will know where on the map you would likely meet if both teams rushed to the same bomb site. Experienced players will know the common *Hiding* Spots etc.

The more you play one map the more you learn from it. I could most likely walk backwards/flashed from spawn to A OR B site on Eagle eye. Why?, Because i have played it WAAAAY too many times. Example of this would be rushing mid tower and enemy throws a flash over the roof. I know my curser was on the door opening when my screen went white so of course my natural reaction is SPAM that door until i have vision again. Why else would they throw a flash over unless they intend to rush it?

So your *Fool Proof* way of detecting a waller has its flaws. The reason i sound like im against it when im not is that newer players will read this... spam flashes... and then if someone gets a lucky kill while flashed = kicked. Prefiring corners is not a *tell tale* sign of hackers... again newer players will kick experienced players for prefiring corners that they know are likely to have someone round it(see example above in this reply).

The example you gave with the 6 man scenario and only 1 turned and aimed you yes that would be an indication. But that is all it would be. There is no reason to say that the flash bugged and didn't white his screen. Maybe he was behind a player and the game seen it like a wall and didn't white his screen.

Best way to spot a hack ? there is none. I've been kicked for hacking because as a GM player i have a GOOD headset and can hear player steps / reloads/ bullet ricochet from a BIG distance away. So when i hear a reload from someone behind a box im not gonna run round and let him shoot me im spraying that box until he is dead... Is that a hack ? No its freaking not. I hear someone walking around the corner behind me and turn around to go get him.. again not a hack. These kids who play S+D with music playing don't understand that sound is an advantage that can be taken advantage of. Not kicked because of it.

Correct anything if you want to. I see the point you tried to make and i appreciate you trying to fix the community's view and how to know if someone is hacking. Best way is presume he is not. The community kicks more legit players than hackers.
  • pls i try today to change my pw say to me changing pw failed pls try again
  • Why would any good player / player who knows how to prefire not be ready for flashes? When you walk around a corner you quickly peek and then watch downwards to the left or right to avoid the flash. It works. Sometimes I even jump out backwards and turn around and shoot. This is crossfire. Not cs go. I got really tired of kids like you kicking me for being a "cheater" and "flashkiller"/ "smokekiller". If you don't know the mechanics. Don't come here throwing stupid nonsense topics on the rookies.
  • Just toss lots of smoke grenades. Their little pyramid PC's can't keep up with the graphics and they RQ. I've done this to about 8 of them now.

This game allows lot's of exploits. New players that come from well policed games see these and use the universal term "hack".

I believe the game should clean these up but there are a lot of big spenders and even pro's out there that want the advantage and the game won't change it. Bug step looks like wall hack but it's an exploit that they allow in WGC games. It's part of the reason serious gamers don't come to Xfire

You either didn't read the post or you are a defensive hacker.

Never said using this method was the "fool proof" way to spot them. It takes a collectivist of information. But this is certainly a big flag.

But I expected lot's of trolls and hackers to hate the thread stating "doesn't always mean that". It is the forums..

Well you sound like a hacker to me.

The first bullet sets the tone for the rest of the bullets. That is a standard in most games now. The spray or "saw" method doesn't work in games anymore...

So you pre-spray corners and you go from your back to 180 spray in hopes of shooting someone....Lot's of red flags there brotha.

You probably use smoke goggles and hide in smoke.

    Best sugestion ever :D
  • Kind of sad that a game has guides against hackers... lol

Guides are pretty much always player-made.
If a player wants to make a guide about how to detect cheaters, I think it's good.
If it spares support just one false report, it's worth it.

(It was in Barracks btw, I moved it to Guides cause it's a guide.)

I hereby announce you as a ret4rd. You obviously suck and you have not got a single proof of being a pro. You should seriously consider uninstalling or atleast never go to these forums again. Because here, you are not even close to be considered a pro.
  • i get flashed all the time while i still get cleans frags while peeking/prefire
just stay out of rooms with low ranks especially at night its a hack fest out there
  • Just no lol anyone who's average player with average gamesense knows what to do in that instance/situation, it doesn't work that way.
  • so many speeders these days
Yes You Are Right So MAny Speeders These Days
    Even I Cant Play

    1. Don't ever call me a hacker again.
    2. nub account yes but my main has and always will have HS Ribbon.
    3. Defensive hacker ? Seriously ? If you cannot understand that flashes DO bug out sometimes and don't white someones screen then you haven't played this game enough to post this guide.
    4. I'm not and never will be a troll. I stated i appreciated what you tried to do but its not a Fool Proof way to tell they are hackers.
    5. Getting a kill while flashed isn't a big red flag.

Yes this is the forums but don't end your pathetic reply with It is the forums.... Yes it IS the forums and critics will point out flaws. IN A CONSTRUCTIVE WAY.

How many noobs are gonna kick experienced players now for getting a lucky/semi skilled shot while flashed? We are already get kicked for being better than them and you are essentially adding fuel to the fire. Cant accept constructive criticisms ? Then don't post a guide that taints newer player for the rest of their CF life.

    Example :

Go look at CoD4 frag movies. How many shots in smoke you see that are essentially lucky *Blind* shots. Do they get kicked ? NO the community for CoD4 even this many years on still appreciate that lucky shots happen. FLASH KILLS ARE NOT ALWAYS A RED FLAG FOR HACKING FOR ALL THE NEWER PLAYERS READING THIS. IT IS AN INDICATION IF ITS MORE THAN ONCE OR TWICE IN A MATCH. OTHERWISE PRESUME IT WAS LUCK.
