    Attention CrossFire players,

As of April 8th, 2014 Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP with updates.

As a result of this, CrossFire will no longer be issuing any technical support for players who have Windows XP and run into problems with CrossFire.

Recently we have stepped up our anti-hacking measures which has included going after a difficult to detect hack. We were successful in that approach and have seen less hackers in game recently.

As a result of us detecting this hack, many users with Windows XP Service Pack 3 were banned.

In fact we tracked this particular incompatibility down to a language pack used in Internet Explorer within Windows XP SP 3 which has been fixed.

Our hack protection systems continue to detect the hacks, however we have been able to update them to account for the accidental blocking of legitimate users due to Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Because of this false positive, players who have never had a ban record will have their ban record removed and their honorable soldier ribbon restored.

please note it may take up to 24 hours to restore your ribbon.

Players who have had a previous autoban for hacking have not had any of their bans removed. You have lost the trust of your fellow gamers by hacking in the past. This recent ban does not mean you get a free pass because you may or may not have been hacking.

We are confident that our systems are picking up these newer hacks and we continue to do all we can against hackers and to improve the game.

We are by no means out of the woods, however continual updates to our anti-hacking measures may result in Windows XP incompatibility. Windows XP is an old, unsupported operating system and we may not be able to fix your problem should it arise again.

We recommend players upgrade their Operating System to a legitimate copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.

In addition, please note that Windows 8.1 support is still in development and while CF should run fine on Windows 8.1 it may not be fully supported.

  • I hope I'm not breaking any rules by quoting response from my ticket. I know I don't meet requirements for OS but this error doesn't have anything to do with OS because I have succsesfully updated my game client after restarting my pc. Read all the steps maybe one of those will help you out.

    "Hello,

Thank you for contacting the CrossFire Support team about your technical issue.

If your computer currently meets our minimum system requirements (http://crossfire.z8games.com/support_start_game_sys_req.aspx) we first recommend restarting your computer and trying again. Occasionally, anomalies may occur the longer a system has been up and running. If the problem is fixed after a restart, this may explain the situation you are experiencing.

After restarting if the problem persists, please check your DirectX version and the date on key system drivers such as your network card and graphics card to ensure that everything is up to date.

If you have any serious difficulties loading the game, we recommend you uninstall the game using the official uninstaller located on your start menu (http://crossfire.z8games.com/support_how_to_Uninstall.aspx). Then please go to the main Crossfire website and download our newest client version on the download option page: http://crossfire.z8games.com/downloads2.aspx. Here is a complete guide on how to install CrossFire: http://crossfire.z8games.com/support_start_game_how_to_install.aspx. Please re-install the game and try again.

Finally, we recommend examining any hardware or software that interacts with your internet connection between your computer and your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Routers, firewalls, anti-virus software and the like can occasionally interfere with your connection to CrossFire. You should provide or make "exceptions" (put CrossFire in the list of safe programs) so that the game can pass through any security settings you may have enabled. Also viruses or spyware may also cause issues for the game. We recommend scanning your computer for any viruses and spyware's, and remove them.

Lastly make sure to close down any applications which may be running prior to launching CrossFire as these may interfere with the running of the game.

You may also wish to try posting your issue on our Technical Issues Forum (http://forum.z8games.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13). Some players may have the same issue you are experiencing and the player community may be able to assist with your specific issue further there, but please keep in mind that all advice offered on that forum is given "as-is" and is not necessarily endorsed or recommended by SG Interactive, Inc/G4Box.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact CrossFire support at any time."

reinstalled still stop responding at 16% windows7 enterprise 64bit
  • Still there is 40% winXP computers around. I have done this to start game. Error is trivial: somebody is changed (programmer or so ...) install directory so patcher can not find proper patch. Last time cross fire folder was formed in user profile but now is on desktop under folder crossFire (see difference cross fire against crossFire and changed directory) hahahah it is so funny. So procede as follow: Uninstall game through menu sistem start/all programs/z8Games/crossfire/Uninstall crossfire. After that goto program files and delete z8 directory. Go to your profile and delete cross fire folder where was old patcher 1160. Go to official web and download installer and accept default path on desktop. Whan download finish press red buton "open" and install game. Enoy playing with windowsXP sp3
