Its not that it couldn't be competitive, its just not realistic to expect it to be. With every other country thriving in Competitive Search and Destroy, and our only chance at big prizes being Search, ghost mode becomes kind of irrelevant to most players competing. -

Well with the right support from gaming companies or gaming sponsers there could be something who are the big guys involved with hosting competitive playing with cf? -

ESG and ESL for North America. The thing is gaming companies want to sponsor the highest and most competitive threshold of competition for the game, and right now thats only search. You would have to get other higher revenue versions of the game to take GM competitively to a new level before it happened here, just because we don't have high dollar competition within our version where others do. The most GM has ever seen here as a prize is 100k Zp each for a first place or other in game content prizes.
I would love to see other modes of competition, but seeing as this version can barely keep our SND community thriving, GM seems a little pointless to pursue unless the outlook changes internationally, which I would not expect. -

If you think you're going to have "giant prize pool" right at the beginning, then you must be a moron.
First : show some interest; what's the point of asking for gms tourney and then, (when there was on) teams didn't signed up / played it.
and then, maybe you can have prize pool. -
As much as I wanna see a GM tourney happen, it's going to fail.
Let me tell you why. In the OCG tourney, there were only 9 GM clans out of the 32 that signed up and many of the snders didnt even show up. Controversial finals that only lead the community to drift further apart.
OCG held drafts, 30+ people showed up the first time, the number lowered to 9 on the last day causing it to get cancelled.
Fox 5 pugs had a bunch of snd players spraying gatlings.
AGL tried reviving GM but no one signed up for their tournament causing them to cancel it.
At this point, you can't do much to revive GM. Z8 waited too long to do anything about it, and it's dead. Forumer tournaments are rarely successful. The last two had no AC leading to a bunch of cheating Egyptians winning both rofl
Besides, a lot of the people are busy at the moment, summer would be better. There are like 3 GM clans lol. Not enough players to maintian an active community. If anyone could bring back GM, it's Pan[TH]erS and EscapeArtist. -
Other versions hold plenty of tournaments, pugs and cws.
It is a struggle in our version, so obviously not the mode itself.
One of the things that killed the OCG pugs is they started leaning towards the rule sets of the oldies, making it hard for the younger gm'ers to get in.
Thus it was more active in the beginning.
Some of the guys here tried doing weekly mini games. Even got codes and put up their own money, at first the turn outs were great. Filled rooms, had a mix of old and young players with rules everyone was kosher with.
Then life got busy and less and less could make it out.
Look at the teams that showed up for OCG.... non of the pub "gm" clans entered the tourney. Why??? The rule set was fantastic.
Another tourney like that would be amazing, but perm guns of your choice were not even enough to get the pubstars to even try and compete. Really tells you the level difference. -

This isn't the first ever tourny there have been large prize pools before -
GM tourney won't go big ever again? OCG was the closest to making it a high level competition but that didn't last. Mostly old Gmers have quit and moved on because of this fact, no big tournaments, no prize pools. So they either moved on to SnD or just quit the game all together.
I created Fox5 for it become a competitive server for all GMers, not just the already good ones. Also so that the usual pubbers can get some experience under their belts with playing with us in 5v5 competitive with rules and regulations. This didn't last too long, over a year or so. On/off inconsistency led me to not host it anymore, also the fact a lot of people are just breaking rules or just end up not trying to win. I don't know if we will do some in future, but I will not be hosting them for awhile.
Sidenote, Bran you should just move on to Smite if you want a game that's established in its competitive side, and is a easy transition into the competitive side. -
Ghost Mode is kind of hard to run competitive events for because of the reasons are given to an extent. The "competitive" S&D rule set is more clear cut because of the international competition. There is a specific rule set that players can look at and go, "Okay that's the rule set CF Stars is using." It's easier for an organization to come in and follow suit that way and people will accept it because that's what is being used internationally for our big, main event.
In Ghost Mode, you've got SO many different kinds of players. Some who prefer no ZP weapons. Some who prefer non-silenced weapons. Some who prefer no female characters. Some who prefer this, but not that. Others who prefer that, but not this. It's hard to come in an please ENOUGH of the community in order to pull together a cohesive "draw" for teams to want and come play.
We've had successful search and destroy tournaments before cash prizes. There was at least a small amount of interest from 16+ teams who just wanted to play, regardless of what it was. I haven't seen that kind of interest from the GM community, only a select few amount of players and teams. I'm not sure if the interest is there to warrant an organization to split their time for it. Every event I've seen for a while now, simply ended up with teams not showing up. It happened when we tried it at ESL and it's happened pretty much every event since then. On one hand you want to attract the pub GM clans for the sheer numbers, but on the other hand you don't want to move away from the idea of a competitive and fair atmosphere.
Just my two cents. -

Hate that gm is swept away by cf players and yes people prefer different weps but I know the pug guys like the gp no bd Axe and knife honestly my opinion is anyone who disagrees isnt good enough yet. But just my opinion -

With CFAL allegedly putting up servers closer to us, I will have around 100 ping hopefully and we can all finally move on from this version! We could even start becoming competitive there. Averison CGL champs 2015. Still not 100% sure if or when it's gonna happen or if it's already happened. Haven't played AL in a long time.
