ESL Suggestion
Due to the long delays and the amount of time needed for each match (more than one hour) it would be a good idea to make the esl cups weekend cups, on both Saturday and Sunday. We should have the first 3 rounds were played on each Saturday so things don't go too late (alpha five vs ace gaming went till about 1:30 am). This would also allow for Purvis or whoever to get more organized so a semi final and the finals can be streamed on each Sunday.

the fact that slaya wasn't in action today played a big part in it, as zz has to not only be an admin but play his matches like the rest of us -

every tournament has delays
especially bracket tournaments cause everything advances at the pace of the slowest match -

Pretty much this, but we will be adding more time in between matches or earlier rounds being best of 1 for future cups. -
It should stay as BO3 imo, no reason to change it. But I do think that Round 1 and Round 2 should be played on Saturday: Round 1 at 6pm EST and Round 2 at 8pm EST. Then I think the Quarters, Semis and Finals should be played on Sunday. Quarters at 6pm EST, Semis at 8pm EST and Finals at 10pm EST. This gives the matches more time to be played out and it makes it easier for the Admins to handle also. There probably needs to be more admins on duty since from what I know Slaya couldn't be here for this weekend and ZZXQ was trying to play, worry about his own matches, and administrate at the same time. With all the right people being here and with a little bit of practice, the event could end up finishing 1-2 hours earlier but to be honest I think Round 1&2 should be on Saturdays and Quarter/Semi/Finals should be on Sundays.
PS: Sorry for raging a bit. -
Im just going to put this out there that right now we have 2 leagues ESL and ESG. ESG is on a little break before their next tournament, but when we have the 2 leagues running tournaments at the same time then players will get overwhelmed.
The best time for people to play is on the weekend of course. So hopefully ESL can stay to having to play 1 day a week and ESG can do it on different day. If ESL decides to move it to both Saturday and Sunday, then ESG wont be able to schedule theirs on the weekend. -

Then how about, ESL runs a few more GO4 cups to decide where they're going to go. I'd say they just need more admins and get a hang of it a bit. Once they've done that, they can knock 1-2 hours off by getting things done quicker and then it won't finish so late. I'd suggest having ESL on Saturday and ESG on Sunday. I'd also suggest running ESG more like ESL, that way, matches will be done quicker, the league won't drag out for weeks and less or no matches will have to be played on week days.
EDIT: ESG is a league and ESL GO4 are cups - but I still stick to what I said. -

Exactly this ^
However i like how ESG tournaments go by slower, the cups in ESL are fun but i wouldn't want to do two of them every weekend. They are time consuming so one is definitely enough -
why cant esg or esl do weekdays? like mon/wed
They could, and ESG does do week days usually, but GO4 is a weekend cup. Also, those times are more convenient for some, but for most, the weekends are more convenient.
EDIT: How many GO4 Cups are there before Monthly Finals? -

I think there is 4 -
Well we are most likely going to keep cups limited to 1 day. Right now we are looking at making the earlier rounds 1 map, and later rounds best of 3 with a greater time gap in between, unless the community really wants every round best of 3 in which case we would have to start the cup a few hours sooner so that we can allow more time in between matches. All in all the delays will be present with the current format, but with luke and I both here, and maybe a few extra admins to troubleshoot issues, we can speed things up a bit even with the current format. My main issue was some matches took longer than other by a bit causing 1 part of the bracket to gradually become an hour behind the rest of the bracket which was already delayed by 30 min due to some disputes I had to handle myself causing my matches to start a little later.

If we're going to be it as one day cups then keep the start time at 6 and make the first 2 or 3 rounds 1 map. -
keep the esl cups on sundays
have more admins (jpurvis for example)
start the cups around 4-5 instead of 6
brackets need to be out 30 mins before match time
Yeah, agreed, keep it Bo3 but start it 1-2 hours earlier at 4pm/5pm. Have 90 minutes between matches, for example:
Round 1: 5:00pm
Round 2: 6:30pm
Quarters: 8:00pm
Semis: 9:30pm
Finals: 11:00pm
This format actually schedules the cup to finish at 11 rather than the original 10, but it's not like the recent cups have finished anywhere near 10. The 90 minute gap rather than 60 minute gap will give more time for matches to be played out and will cause less delays. The only problem I can think of is people getting their dinner etc but I think people would probably prefer eating at their desk or eating earlier rather than losing their sleep. -

If this was on schedule the finals would still end around 12:30 am. I guess that is better than 1:30 though.
I think matches will start getting done faster now that everyone has played with ESL wire and MOSS a bit. I know that was a problem for VIOAES and PS that caused a delay in our matches. I say try starting it at 5 one more time and if it still goes on all night limit the first two rounds to one map. -
There was ONE admin running the entire event and he was PLAYING in the event. Changing the time to 4 or 5 is definitely something that should happen but the rest is down to there not being enough admins and admins being new at this. Removing Chase from Head Admin was the right decision but idk why he was removed from being Admin entirely, perhaps he could help.

4 and 5 eastern time is still during many peoples work hours, and think about the pacific players, I doubt many of them can get on at 1 or 2 their time. The cups are fine starting at 6 eastern. The first 3 rounds should just be made 1 map.
