Anyway, XTrap blocks anything that you could use for controller support.
There was a thread about this earlier this year and some member said he/she was able to establish that. -

Yes its possible, but you need a ps4 connector to pc. and download the official keyboard/mouse device for the controller -
There is no way you'll be able to play CrossFire properly with a controller.. I mean you could probably find a way but you would be better off with a mouse.
There is a way, EVERTHING is possible. dont forget that
but if its smart, No! trust me, after 1 week playing with W+A+S+D SHIFT+ escape + mouse you will enjoy it.:) -

Dear Original Poster,
Yes, after enough tampering and program doing and hardware messing, you can indeed use an external controller (joysticks and buttons) to play Crossfire.
Should you do it? The answer is a flat out no. The amount of movement control you would have in the game will be significantly less than what you would have with a keyboard and mouse setup. In fact, lets put it this way. If you use a joystick, you eventually have a sort of maxed rate of speed that you can look around. People may argue that with enough practice, a person using a controller can match the precision that people have with mice, but even then, the reliability may not be equal. You can dash from one point to another with a mouse, but you can't do the exact same with a joystick.
Then there's the problem where the keyboard comes in. A keyboard allows you to do precise movements, in particular the whole jump-crouch thing while airborne and eventually chaining that into the bunny-hopping that this game has in its game mechanics. I'm pretty sure trying to bunny-hop with a controller is possible, but won't be an easy feat at all. On the other hand, a keyboard will be able to accomplish just that easily, no problem at all.
Again, it's up to you to go through the whole mess of getting a controller to work in Crossfire. However, it's strongly suggested that you stick with a keyboard and mouse.
Carry on.
