Scrim montage 1

Well it's really just a "Digest" Or a "Fragshow" Not really a "Montage"
You don't really need to worry about editing, just do what you did in this and ease up on the slowmo a bit. I wouldn't really try and edit anything anyways. No one in CF can Edit. -

You are so wrong lol -
How so? That it's not a Montage? Or that CF players can't edit?

This is the only one I'd see as acceptable as a Clip. Although it's sloppy because it has no real clarity. (probably a work around from the game's garbage quality.)
First one is garbage, and the 3rd one is sloppy as hell because of the Camera work mixed with the super fast pace.
Seriously.

I thought we were arguing that CF players couldn't edit? Not whether CS edits were better than CF edits. And I found those clips in a good minute and a half. If you actually invested some time and searched for some better edits, you might find some good ones to your suiting. -

So my conclusion that CF Editors couldn't edit would be derived from NOT comparing their edits to other editors editing their own games? Or in order to come to the conclusion that CF players can't edit I would compare CF editors to CF Editors?
I don't think you understand the argument.
These individuals... Editing their own games, are better editors than CF Editors. Implying that people who edit crossfire, are not as good as editors who do not edit crossfire. Meaning that editors who do not edit crossfire, are better editors than crossfire editors.
Do you understand now? -

And it's most likely because of the engine that crossfire runs on lmfao. Do you see these graphics? And we have different opinions on what is a good edit and what is not, on crossfire or not. -

No my opinions are on the editing, not the game itself, the edit that I deemed an acceptable clip was done well, and using the same engine. You can create smooths using your mouse that are smooth, and not choppy. And the graphics itself, well... you can find work arounds using color correction, higher resolution, using Shadows, and hell, if you really want to, you can mask a Skybox that's higher quality than the one ingame.
CS 1.6 can look good, so can CF. -

CS 1.6 can still look good, so can CF.
Okay then, like I said before, go invest some time and actually try and look for a CF edit to which you consider "good". I found that clip you said was "acceptable" in 30 seconds after you said there was no players in CF that could edit. -

I've tried for an hour or so and found nothing. Even contest entries for CF are pretty bad.
You really could just make a slow clip with some sloppy sync, and as long as it's clean and smooth it'd be fine. It wouldn't be great, but it'd be fine. CF players have an obsession with useless and irrelevant poorly animated 3D crap in their edits. That and Dubstep.
Something like this, not much to it, it's just smooth and clean.

That's pretty sad considering I found a video that only took 30 seconds to find. And the video you linked, there are plenty of those edits in CF. Maybe you should try and up your search game. -

prob best cf montage ever made -

1 minute into this one Fast, the camera work is really choppy, as well as the fact that he doesn't use any movement during the actual gameplay footage which really ruins the flow, + the fact that he's recorded it in low FPS and left Resample on which also makes it look sloppy.
Mateusz, I'm completely down with changing my opinion if you could link me some, they seem hard to find simply because they're not popular. -
Again the Camera work is really sloppy. The music was really well edited for how far I got through it. The breathing effect is a little irrelevant (Kind of like the 3D used in a lot of CF edits) His Pan/Crop work using the clips as well as the whole way they're presented in the movie is a little sloppy, and looks amateur. Some of the transitions are pretty good, mixed with some good camera work they'd look great. -
-
This one is definitely much better. I feel like in this he realized that the Camera work in his first movie was incredibly choppy, so he used a lot of work arounds like still cams.
Though there is a flow in this one, it's not exactly the greatest, there's not a lot of visual feedback to the kills and it doesn't exactly "pop" out to the viewer. It was good for like 40 seconds, then the pace kind of fell off and it lost my interest.
Edit: Editing replays in this game just ruins everything too lol. (Better to get players to render their clips in 60FPS and send them.) -

And that's why I mentioned the game's engine before. You can't use smooths and stuff without replays and it just looks bland.
Replay smooths + in game frags = no
As far as some more sync, smooths, and flow goes

Big difference in syncing clips and Jumps, but it was a nice watch.
There are always work arounds for smooths. You can isolate aspects of the clip and replicate them with a friend, as well as just using transitional smooths.
Hell if you study anatomy, physiology, animation, and understand the concept of weight you could even replicate clips with 3D (which is much easier in games like these.)
Although I've literally never seen 3D done very well in games like CoD/CS it's still possible.
I suppose someone could also overlook using replays if the Camera work was good, but so far I haven't seen someone find a work around for that stuff. Though I know like 2.
Using a Controller. Or amping up your mouses Acceleration and just doing a bunch of retakes.
I don't know if you can use the oldschool WASD IJKL, but that's another one if at all possible. -

Yea the first one was on a much older computer that couldn't record at more than 30 FPS unfortunately.
Reading your posts has been nice, although I'd argue that the pace comment is more a preference thing than anything. As for your initially post,You don't really need to worry about editing, just do what you did in this and ease up on the slowmo a bit. I wouldn't really try and edit anything anyways. Basing whether or not you put effort into something off of whether or not there are other people in the community who can do the same thing is an unfortunate line of reasoning. Doing something for your own improvement and experience is a better way to look at stuff, IMO. -
